Today's football.

Love Everton, but in general I hate football. Have done since smashing my knee to bits as a kid, and also realising that certain clubs, no matter what crimes they have done, will always get preferential treatment. All about money, sponsorship deals and corporate bigwigs these days. Clubs make more money from the executive areas than they do from all us diehards in a home stand put together on a match day. I have seen this having been a corporate guest too. :(

This really. If it wasn't for Everton I'd probably stop watching football. Every year I feel more and more like a pawn in a chess game.

I've stopped watching Portuguese football because of it actually. It is 100% fixed. Whoever has the most power and influence over the referees wins the title. Either Porto or Benfica usually. But even at relegation level it is obvious who the favourites are each time. There's absolutely no point in supporting a second division team like I do, so while I still contribute to the club when I can despite being away from the city for years, I know it's largely irrelevant. Not to mention most of it will probably go to dodgy agents or club directors.

If I look at it objectively, the fact I persist with football in its current state is no more than an unhealthy addiction.

I think the only question remaining is whether this type of outrageous favouring of Liverpool by officials extends to next season? They'll need even more penalties and dodgy decisions against opponents running for them with the workload they'll have.

I really wouldn't rule it out though. I thought I'd seen the lot in football in terms of manipulation of the general atmosphere around football that influences decision making (all for teams that can boost the Premier League 'brand' of course), but what's happened in this league since Christmas has been way beyond all that. Apart from refs actually picking the ball up and throwing in the net for them and in against their nearest chasers it's had it all.

The media really has to be reined in by these other top clubs, btw. Their PR departments really need to earn their money and start publicly questioning the media bias and officiating calamities. They'll need to get on top of this because Liverpool will collar the media for years if they dont, and the media (along with corporate decision making regarding foreign markets to conquer and who would best suit them to do that as champions) dictate the tone in which the title race is run in.

I like Sunderland too actually. Just a shame they've taken 3 points off us, 3 off Chelsea, 5 off City and rolled over for the RS and for Arsenal the bad bells.

Sunderland punching Chelski in the mouth at Stamford sucks for you in the city, but shows anyone can lose anytime, anywhere. Hopefully someone will likewise smash the gunners.

are they still moaning about loans now? will be hypocritical if they don't say city/chelsea shouldn't be given 3 pts each because of slands loan players.

Mourinho speaking truth - the biased media trying to throw Liverpool over the line reacts badly.

Pretty predictable.

Mourinho spot on.
