As someone who lives in the north east, you've got to remember that there's only really two teams from berwick to the tees.

Traditionally pretty much everyone north of the wear supports newcastle. We have loads and loads of big teams around our area.

Eh? I don't follow. Either there's only "two teams" or there's "loads and loads".

Anyway, the laboured point was that we can criticise Newcastle all we like, only we should be wary of claiming we're a bigger club. But at least in terms of history and quality of the fanbase, we're a better club.

The 'our area' is merseyside. I live in the north east, it's not my area.

And I agree entirely with your last paragraph.

Newcastle Utd average attendance this season: 50,061
Everton average attendance this season: 36,365

If we had a bigger stadium, could we average 50k+ every game?

I'm all for bitching against other clubs (lordy knows Newcastle Utd deserve it) but some criticism is just misplaced.

We're more successful than them historically, and have generally a more consistent presence at the top table, but we can't deny their large fanbase. Depends how you define 'big', really.

Newcastle also have a city all to themselves.I don't deny that they are well supported but in terms of success and winning trophies i wouldn't consider them to be a big club.

I wouldn't define that as a big club, i'd define that as a successful club.

Schalke 04 are a big club, with 60,000 average gates in the middle of an area of Germany which also offers half a dozen well known clubs, but they've not been champions for over 50 years.

Werder Bremen are more successful, but are a smaller club in terms of support.

Im sorry you lost me with the successful club bit.Successful clubs win trophies!

Werder have won loads more than Schalke in the last 50 years, we've won loads more than Newcastle the last 50 years.

Newcastle & Schalke have larger fan bases than Everton or Werder...

Who are the bigger clubs? Who are the more successful ones?

Depends on how it's defined...

I still wouldn't say Newcastle are bigger than us, but I wouldn't say with any conviction that we're bigger than them either. We're definitely more successful, tho'.

lol @ Pardew, you're definitely operating on a different level to Everton now you bad ted.

Despite of the fact it was the ****e dishing it out, that was comedy gold by them yesterday. His tactical nouse is none existent. Anyone with eyes can surely see that the ****e's string suit is conter attacking with pace, leave them acres of green behind your back line & they're liable to punish you. So Pardew watches them doing it once, then twice, I'd have thought by 3 or even 4 he might have noticed, but not old 'smooth' Alan. What a prize cock. I'd combust with laughter if they were the surprise side who got dragged in at the death & went.

Much prefer them to go down than Villa or Wigan.

This match is like watching two bald fellas fighting over a comb.

3 points really isn't going to make difference to either side is it?
