Seriously mate just listen to what you are saying. It was an emotional day and the ref was there to witness the emotion tributes at the start of the game and the minute silence. He knew full well what the top underneath would say and he should have had common sense to just leave it. He just was paying tribute to the people who lost their lives tragically at his club. There are more important things than football and to book him for it was an absolute disgrace in my opinion. Baffles me how anyone would think any differently.

I agree with your sentiment, and if the rule had an element of interpretation I am sure he wouldnt have been booked.

But it doesnt. Chances are, if he didnt book him, the ref would have got Likes from the normal football people, but pelters from his bosses.

It might be a rule but bloody hell it was shocking by the ref to book him when he knew what it would be about. Ref needs to get a life.

Think the problem would be mate (no matter how tragic it was) a ref would have to refrain from giving any player a yellow if they took their tops off displaying a message of sympathy. Imagine today if the ref wouldn't have sent him off, and then a Cardiff player takes his shirt off displaying something like "Happy birthday mum" and the ref booked him, there would be loads of fuming.

I've always thought it was a daft rule anyway, as long as it's not aimed at the opposing fans, and it's not offensive, I don't see the problem.

The why isn't there VAR for this week is absolutely overloaded with entries between our penalty not given, another penalty not given for Leicester, a handball on the line by Cardiff and that offside for the RS. Madness this.

The difference is though the ref knew the game was out of respect for the people who passed away with everything before the game. Everyone in the stadium knew about it. Not like it was just something that no one was going to expect when taking their top off, that is very different.

Saying Happy Birthday Mum is extremely different to what was fully known what was going to happen if they scored.

Totally agree mate, but would it be fair not to book Gray, then book a Cardiff player for doing it if one of them had done it, the ref would have had to throw the rule book out of the window for that one specific game. Maybe knowing the rules, and knowing they were going to do it, Leicester could have had a chat with the officials before the game. As I say though, the rule should be volleyed anyway.
