Great when you have friends in high places.

If you really, really believe that was an open game of football...

I remember lads going mad about Hulk Hogan v Ultimate Warrior years ago.

That is what this farce of a sport has decended to.

Imagine getting your nation banned in disgrace, and then having these matches fixed in your favour constantly.

Utterly vile.

Oh, grow up, will you.

I reckon Valverde will be sacked after this. The Barcelona board have prioritised adding to their Champions League tally, and he has now shamed himself twice in two years in that competition.

I have no idea why he'd think it made sense to start with the same team that he had to change last week, when they were struggling to get to grips with Liverpool on their home pitch. Coutinho bottled it in front of his own fans, so why would he perform better in the face of tens of thousands of booing wools?

The most shocking thing to me is how, at this stage of what is supposed to be the elite club competition in world football, experienced players could be so tactically inept. Even if they looked at Liverpool's line-up beforehand and believed that they were going to roll them over, it was abundantly clear after six minutes that they were actually in a proper game. There were three World Cup winners there in Pique, Alba and Busquets, and not one of them had the nous to realise that the one thing you don't do against Liverpool is chew the ball or make risky passes in your own half. I've no clue how many times they were dispossessed in the act of trying to get from the goalkeeper to the full-back in no fewer than seven moves, but it felt like 50 or more.

People will talk about this in the context of Premier League vs La Liga, but I think that top level football in general is in a lull at the moment. It seems as though more goals than ever come directly from a mistake, and I'm convinced that virtually every title contender would get absolutely battered by their counterparts from around the turn of the last decade. In fact, I'd go as far to say that Liverpool's fourth goal was the worst ever scored in a Champions League knockout tie.

I'm on the verge of being done with this sport.

That us twice in as many years the RS have mugged Barcelona off.

How the heck did they manage to get north of £100 million for Coutinho?

WOW! Cheers Barca!

All I can say is if you beat a team 4-0 with players out then you deserve to go through.

On the Champions League, I never care as we are not in the comp so it's like me moaning about the Check-A-Trade trophy.

Obviously I never want them to win anything but in terms of Champions League but it's a cup competition and I am sure Ajax or Spurs will want to win it so it's not won yet.

Plus Klopp in a final, let's hope history repeats itself.

They have had a great result. They were the first team to look impossible to beat before SAF decided to knock them off their perch. Nothing is invincible. Messi was an immovable god a week ago...hardly got a kick tonight. It may take another two years but your attitude says we should not bother. Time will come again.
Nice words mate, but it is not going to happen, in two years they will still be streets ahead of us.We don't have the resources to pull another 40 points out the hat, we will get better but not to their level. You are just kidding yourself if you think we are going to improve that much.

Next season we will be be in a dog-fight with Wolves and Leicester for the prestigious ‘best of the rest’ trophy.
That’s the reality of where we are as a club.
It’s a little disheartening, but such is life as an Evertonian...

It is mate utterly depressing, woke up this morning and it's like a dark mist over me, I'm not looking forward to the houses being adourned with red and white flags and scarfs for the next month and cars with their stupid flags flapping around.Liverpool won't be a nice place to live for a blue shortly.

One thing that RS win showed very clearly is how much raw athleticism means in this sport now that pressing has become the main way of playing. Barca had 7 outfield players who are quite frankly slow. The 3 who have some pace are all quite small guys. Compare that with the pace and energy Liverpool had in midfield, at fullback and up top plus the great covering speed of Van Dijk and it makes it very hard to control the game. In the past Barcelona overcame this buy keeping the ball for the entire game but that isn't easy when you don't have Iniesta or Xavi anymore. Basically they've converted to a defensive system that isn't all that different from ours but without Gana to win the ball and Zouma to control the back. They were completely bullied tonight physically and it wasn't too different from how they lost to PSG before the comeback, Roma, and Atletico.

The worst thing is the Klopp 'i am always this mad' interview.

All non football people have seen it and will be like 'have you seen the interview with the Liverpool manager? He is such a card!'
