I was using dramatic effect mate.

Point stands though: that was a piss poor group Porto qualified from in comparison to what Sours etc had to endure.

Looking forward to these getting absolutely 'kin mullered in the next round.

Besikats’ best player can’t make our 11. The wealth and talent in Europe is congregated in a few teams. Everyone else is complete dross cruising through their domestic leagues that are league 1 standard. Even Leicester with Shakespeare at the helm made the quarters.

Liverpool are in one of those hot streaks.

They rely on that front three way too much though and are merely adequate/poor elsewhere.

A draw against any very good side left in this competition (and there will be about 5 of the last 8 in that category) and Liverpool will be sent packing.

All four of those sides would do us at their place with ease. Besiktas have been the biggest surprise, suspected many thought it would be Monaco followed by Leipzig/Porto. Tosun their joint top scorer along with Talisca...but enough said about that the better.

Don't think Shakhtar would be an easy game either. Horrendous away trip and they put Napoli out in the groups.

I’d be interested to see a RS/Shakhtar match up. Would be good to see Fonseca in action if he really is a priority candidate for the summer.

They are not going to win it. Porto are another team of farmers. But the sort of result tonight gets praise and plaudits from across the world and we can't do anything about that.

They have bagfuls of goals in them and that's what the neutral wants to see. There is no better marketing strategy than that and when allied to this romanticism and 1970s nostalgia that clings to them, it's a potent combination and one that results in kids buying replica shirts and big commercial deals.

Oddly enough and with no logic at all I still just on a hunch think we'll get a result against them in April and it will be spun as a huge travesty if it happens.

I haven't even paid attention to the CL until tonight. Just looking at Porto's qualifying group to get to the last 16. I'd even have given this Everton team an outside chance of qualifying from that: Besiktas, Leipzig, Monaco, Porto.

Liverpool wont get beyond Porto. They'd have to get the winners of Shakhter and Roma to do so.
Everton couldn't even qualify from a group consisting of Lyon, Atalanta, and some Cypriot club......

Perchance to dream

R Madrid are definitely up for this comp , I've never seen Ronaldo so excited at one of his team mates goals , I expect them to be in the final , they need to steer clear of Barca on the way though.
With La Liga being well and truly beyond them (unless there's a biblical style miracle) then European success is Zidane's only saving grace.

Alongside the financial rewards as well, their European pedigree is ridiculous because this would be their thirteenth CL title so it's in their blood.

If they're not in the final then I'd be incredibly surprised - we can only hope that they get those lot along the way and turn them over.

I was watching the Real PSG game last night and Glenn Hoddle described a cross that Marcelo put in as having a lot of "swazz" on it. I sort of got what he meant, I think it was like it had a lot of whip on it because at first it looked like it was going way too close to the keeper but swung back out and fell perfectly to the striker. But never heard the term "swazz" before, made me laugh.

The way the ball popped ip for Ronaldo's penalty was weird. Ferdinand revkons he did that in training at Yernited all the time. Wouldn't surprise me. Real have the nous and are streetwise enough to easily win it again. Ramos would volley his own mam if it mednt winning.
