The Pedro double yellow was justified but the Morata sending off was a bit harsh. The defender has his arm around his shoulder, he has no reason once so ever to do that. There have been loads of lighter penalties given this season. Fine if you don't give it/even give him a yellow for a dive whatever but to give an extra yellow on top for a bit of frustration is just ridiculous in such a situation.

Mind you I think he did Morata and Chelsea a favour because no way he would have scored his penalty.

We have not yet reached the point where football is a non-contact sport. It was a dive, 100%. Yellow card. Instead of walking away, he then mouthed off to the referee. Refs should NOT have to take that kind of thing from players. It's not frustration, it's verbal abuse. 99.9% of the time, they get away with it, and it encourages others to do so as well. Good on the ref for not taking any merde from the guy and showing him a second yellow. I wish a lot more refs had the balls to do the same thing. Might tidy up and improve the game. You don't see that kind of behaviour going on on a rugby pitch...

Top post. Agree 100%.

Sorry mate we'll have to agree to disagree. I would have given a goal kick in such circumstances; he should have kept his arms to himself it's quite easy to do you know. It is part frustration, especially after he should have given the clear Willian penalty (what VAR?). Well yes rugby isn't football. He made it all about himself and missed a clear penalty; hardly a top referee performance.

We will have to agree to disagree. Perhaps you are happy to see the divers and cheaters continue to prosper? Morata dived forward, quite blatantly. You don't go down like that given the kind of contact he received. Morata's dive was a joke, an absolute joke!

And my mention of rugby is to illustrate that the kind of gobbing -off to a referee that Morata did last night would never be tolerated in that sport, as opposed to what we see all the time in football, week-in, week-out.

Your point about Willian is correct, but then every week referees don't give blatant penalties, so whereas you castigate the ref for that, his performance otherwise was fine. He didn't buckle under the pressure from one of the 'Sky 6' who think they can get away with most things on the pitch every week.

No suprise to hear about Carroll getting injured just as he's about to move to Chelsea. Why on Earth would they be willing to sign this absolute injury prone liability.

He has talent yes but he's absolutely useless with an injury record worse than Darron Gibson's. Stole a living since he turned pro at Newcastle. Cannot stand hearing his name anymore.
