We will have to agree to disagree. Perhaps you are happy to see the divers and cheaters continue to prosper? Morata dived forward, quite blatantly. You don't go down like that given the kind of contact he received. Morata's dive was a joke, an absolute joke!

And my mention of rugby is to illustrate that the kind of gobbing -off to a referee that Morata did last night would never be tolerated in that sport, as opposed to what we see all the time in football, week-in, week-out.

Your point about Willian is correct, but then every week referees don't give blatant penalties, so whereas you castigate the ref for that, his performance otherwise was fine. He didn't buckle under the pressure from one of the 'Sky 6' who think they can get away with most things on the pitch every week.

No but there's a grey area imo. Under no circumstance should the defender put his arms around the other player. There's no need for that, it's not like he can't keep his arms to himself and they are automatically drawn towards the shoulder and chest of the opposing player. He shouldn't go down like he did, but the defender should keep his arms to himself (it is obstructive when you're playing playing football and especially on higher speeds it doesn't take a lot to fall - not the case with Morata mind you). In Pedro's case it's easy enough; extremely blatant dive. The defender touched Morata, and he should keep his arms to himself; whenever you do that there's a risk that the other party goes down. Sometimes you even have to overplay it a bit because otherwise the referee doesn't do anything.

He could have given Morata a yellow earlier btw if he wanted, when he decided to pick-up the ball after diving because he wanted the referee to award him the fault.

Can't diasagree with anything you say above, but there is now a culture whereby once an attacker is touched in the penalty area they more often than not go down. What annoys me is that it is so false. What also annoys me is that most referees cannot see the 'dive' is false. I agree that the defender should keep his arms to himself (Carragher was the past-master at hauling someone down in the area and making it look like he was the one fouled!) but initial contact, of whatever form, does not bring with it an automatic foul. What the Norwich defender did was an attempt to pull Morata back, yet Morata goes forward into a dive like he was picked off by a sniper! That is the side of things I do not like in the game, even when done by Everton players...

Yes I understand that mate, you'd think that if referees would get a bit stricter on all sorts of unnecessary pulling/pushing etc ... that the attackers would stop their over the top going to the ground antics.

You'll enjoy Onyekuru then if he ever gets into the Everton first team squad. Four yellow cards so far, and if I remember correctly three of them are for simulation. Decent player though; hope he heals properly from his knee injury.

Sorry mate we'll have to agree to disagree. I would have given a goal kick in such circumstances; he should have kept his arms to himself it's quite easy to do you know. It is part frustration, especially after he should have given the clear Willian penalty (what VAR?). Well yes rugby isn't football. He made it all about himself and missed a clear penalty; hardly a top referee performance.

Sorry but @Old Blue 2 has it spot on. That ref should be straight into the prem for me. The prem is full of refs who easily get trampled all over. Especially by the "big" teams. We don't do it really and that's why we constantly seem to be undone by poor decisions in the bigger games.

If refs can't stand up for themselves when they have the power there is no hope. They constantly crumble because they don't use their cards in that situation and cave in. You see refs like Madley and Mason who utterly crumble and get bullided.

It was also a nailed on dive and a yellow card as he went down after the defender took his arm off his shoulder. it's not going to cut that disgusting habit of of the game. Your suggestion of just giving a goal kick is even worse tbh.

Dons v Buddies bbc Scotland now

St mirren boss is a great prospect be on his way soon I think

Mcinnes dodged a bullet or two at Sunderland and Rangers ( in rangers current situation anyway )

If you do watch you'll understand the fans being wrapped up its baltic

I don't know how I would have reacted if 3 years ago you told me Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso would be the best fullback pairing in the league but here we are
