Sorry Red 1 but Monreal is a liability
Not one of Monsieur Wenger's most astute pieces of business
I don't think you need to apologise for stating the obvious :D He's a complete liability. The fact that Gibbs makes him look incompetent in full back says it all and most of all he has no business playing centre back under any situation. I once watched him playing for Spain a while ago after we just bought him and I thought, this guy is pretty good. Well, he only looked good because Spain had something like 70% possession and he didn't really need to defend all game, just needed to pop it back to Xavi every now and then. He's a shocking defender.

The truth of the matter is that TV money has finally and belatedly brought some sense of parity to the premier league.
The rich teams aren't able to just nick all the best talent off the less well off teams. This has a twofold effect. First, the lower teams aren't as weakened as they would have been in the past. Second, richer teams are having to go abroad more and more to find transfer bargains, which means they're not getting talent with PL experience.

It's nice to see teams like So'ton and WHU up there even if it's only temporary.

Yes and I also doubt if the likes of soton swansea and wham would up until the last year or 2 been in the market for the likes of gomis bony sakho and tadic. Tv money has enabled them to operate in a different market.

Tv money may have reduced the billionaire investor effect considerably which is maybe no bad thing.

Southampton have had a fantastic start to the season but they are still to play anyone 'better' (you know what I mean) that Spurs and Liverpool. Soon they must surely cop a horrible run of fixtures?

Southampton, WHU, Swansea, Newcastle...they KNOW they'll finish below us.

those other 3 will, southampton, i'm not so sure atm, they're basically 12 points ahead of us if you factor GD - that's a fair bit to make up, especially with the way we've been playing and the result's we're churning out. we'll go on a run at some point though during this season.

In the long run it will be a good thing for us, with our manager, scouting network and academy we won't be at such a disadvantage to the rich clubs.

Next week they are away to Villa, after that they play City, Utd, Chelsea, us and Arsenal twice in their following 8. We'll see what sort of stuff they're made of after that horror run of fixtures.

11 games in and we've had a nightmare with injuries and form. We're 4 points off all them bar Southampton, who have enjoyed a great run.

I think we all know though that unless you have a very deep squad a team can lose points hand over fist and slide down the table at a speed of knots once they lose a couple and the confidence starts to buckle. Maybe Southampton can keep ahead of us. I wouldn't put any money on it though.

I think once we near Christmas the congestion of the teams' fixtures lists begins to equalise we won't be at a disadvantage any more like we are now with EL midweek. Other midtable teams' squads will begin to be stretched and we'll be able to take advantage.
