Today’s Football 25/26 Season

So why the excitement from some at English team failure
The mendacious hubris of those peddling the "product".

Sky, TNT, the print media all falling over themselves to anoint "our league" as the best in the world for their own naked self interest. It's a lot easier to charge extortionate subscriptions and inflated ticket prices for "the product" if it has this kind of propaganda behind it that is then vindicated on the field of play. And then there's the weird "pride" taken by some in what is, as you say, a collection of foreigners drawn to the league purely for financial reasons. You know, like the ecomomic immigrants so many of the same people are furiously engaged in keeping out.

For what it's worth, I think the Premier League is, on balance, probably the best league in the world. It doesn't always have the very best players in the world - they still tend to play, primarily, in Spain - but it has the best overall standard. It's a globalised league, with foreign owners, managers, players, and, yes, fans. But it's also the spawn of often extreme capitalism. To see the Super 6 crash and burn, by and large, this week should gladden the hearts of anyone who wants a more competitive competition and less inequality across the continent.

2-2 PSG-Chelsea.

The spawn of the devil won't go quietly...

Mind you, let's be fair, almost all of the major clubs left in this are massively horrible. Nobody needs to see General Franco FC win another title.

Bayern look a level above everyone but I’d fancy Arsenal to beat them in a one off game if that’s the final
