Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Ditto tbh

They’ve watered the concept down a lot with the ludicrous group stages to drag it on

Plus, the Thursday-Sunday schedule is miserable

Great if you can win it obviously, but there’s a lot of crud to wade through and it basically derails your season if you’re a club our size

If I had a choice between winning Europa League/Conference or the FA/League Cup then I’m picking the domestic tournament every time

I’d rather trek to Newport for a 3rd round FA Cup tie than travel all the way to Scrovobia or Bobodia for a Conference League quarter final

we don’t play on saturdays anyway so the thursday sunday is moot for me, at least we’d play on a weekend. i don’t think european sides get many monday nights

id also argue getting the most likely way we get into the champions league is by winning the conference league and then winning Europa league the following. can’t see us finishing top 4/5 anytime soon

Exactly where I’m at with it!

Someone like Wrexham would go far in that comp. Winning a European trophy should mean you amongst the elite in Europe or very close, this doesn’t imo.

West Ham won it with David Moyes in charge, that tells us a lot about the quality of this competition.
We would also have thousands of fans travelling to wherever to see a second string team put out because we have a big PL 3 days later.

Stick it in the bin and abolish this nonsense of a comp.
Like you say give me the Carabou cup everytime of this.

We've not won the FA Cup and have done poorly in it since '95, with all we've done of note being 1 final that we lost, and the league cup was shockingly irrelevant and a Mickey Mouse cup, so it was okay not to even try to play for it, and we laughed at the RS for winning and celebrating it.

Now when we have a tangible possibility of another cup, the league cup is super relevant and great apparently and people prefer it to an international trophy

I know it was a couple of days ago, but does anyone know the reason why Arsenal had that game on Wednesday, I assume it’s league cup related, but City are in the league cup final also and didn’t play.

City were scheduled to play Palace on the weekend of Carabao Cup final and were unable to rearrange that fixture for this week or next due to Palace’s Conference League playoff games.

If we won the league cup I’d be beyond thrilled
