Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Making it up as they go along now.

The word from Stockley Park is that City’s second goal was ruled out because Haaland was deemed to have been impairing the view of Malick Thiaw while standing in an offside position. That makes the decision seem even more ridiculous.
It was a crazy call. The commentary on the clip I’ve just seen was saying that Var was recommending a review because Haaland was preventing the keeper getting to it.

The keeper who had jumped the other way 🤦‍♂️

Someone explain to me please how he can be offside from a corner ? The corner taker is basically playing the ball backwards not forwards from the corner. The ref said that Haaland was interfering with play in an offside position… please make it make sense.
When the ball hit Semenyo's knee in the middle, Haaland's right foot was further forward than the goalkeeper - as that only left Thiaw level with him, he was in an offside position. Haaland and Thiaw were grappling with each other, and therefore Haaland was interfering with Thiaw by making an obvious action which clearly impacted on Thiaw's ability to play the ball. Some may argue that Thiaw was never going to get there anyway but a precedent has been set that this doesn't really come into consideration.

It looked messy and took too long, possibly because the semi-automated technology didn't work due to the crowd of players, but it was offside.
