Arsenal have given him time and the backing to bring in youth and bin off very expensive members of that squad (Lacazette, Aubameyang, Pepe). They learned from the disasters of the late period Wenger and Emery years, and they are reaping the rewards of it now. Would we have done that?

In short they are a club that learnt from its mistakes.

Indeed, though I don't think you can underestimate the impact that a manager going in there and just removing all the waistrels though. Klopp did it at the tin mine too and it was the foundation of his success.
