That’s a strong statement about a single player. He didn’t sign himself for stupid money and provided more than some of our other rubbish signings.

Honestly I'm not even sure I blame him, but his signing and presence was a massive issue. And for me the goals masked that he was a horrendous player who wrecked every other single aspect of our play.

The ref has sent him off for violent conduct. That is imo a valid interpretation of that play. It is not the most common interpretation. It probably should be.

Success here would be regular Europa League qualification and ideally an FA or League Cup.

I don’t think we’ve ever been so far away from them competitions in years. Even if we would have qualified for the Europa, we would have struggled against the minnows of Europe. League cup, never going to happen. FA Cup 4th, 5th rd at best.
Apathy has really set in.

Shouldn’t be an annoyance but watching Southgate’s presser and that knob of Sky is going on about Stockdale forcing his way into number 1, based on a couple run of the mill saves for Arsenal. The press disrespect for JP is ridiculous considering he never puts a foot wrong for England

That's always the problem with the captaincy - it has to be conferred upon a player that cannot be dropped, because if that player suffers a severe decline in form then the manager has to choose between weakening the squad by including the captain or damaging the most important player relationship beyond repair.

Unfortunately, the list of top players that never suffered that sort of loss of form at some point in their careers is fairly short.
