As much as I liked Silva as a person he was clearly out of his depth here. If he goes on to have success at our level or higher I’ll eat my words but until then he can be filed under not of the required standard.

He wasn't great but losing Zouma and Gueye was rough

Especially as Gbamin and Gomes both got major injuries early on, leaving us with no midfield

Football carries on perfectly happy without it, (and did so for over a century) in all but the top leagues/competitions.

It was introduced to add a bit more drama for the sensationalist broadcasters.

It wouldn't be missed if it was scrapped tomorrow

I'm probably not the right person to say anything because I love the nfl, but football is completely different. Its a fast paced, non stop game. Its a sport and not so much an event. Replays work in nfl, cricket etc but not in football.

A lot of us have said this countless times by now, but poor recruitment been a bigger problem than any manager has for some time (apart from Koeman the fraud).

I think American sports like the NFL and Baseball are very stat heavy in a way that doesn’t transfer as well to football. Replays too.

Yup. Especially baseball since the sample sizes are massive and the action is relatively static.
In baseball, the changes that have happened due to the stats nerds have made the sport far less enjoyable

Success would be more than half the players putting in a full 90 minutes effort every week over the course of a full season.

I get what you mean and agree but I’m still sticking by what I said.

We might not be at the top table anymore but a good run in Europe or a domestic cup is more than reasonable to expect when you look at some of the teams who have achieved it since we last did.

We ain't doing any of that until we have a coherent squad with more than one player for each position.
How we've managed to achieve that after spanking £500 million is mind boggling.

Going a bit too off topic for this thread but when you consider we are one of six clubs to have been ever present on the PL gravy train along with all that Mosh money the return in football success has been abysmal.

The other big question would have been could he have come to his senses and dropped Sigurdsson before he ruined any progress we might have made. Absolutely wrecked our club that guy.

That’s a strong statement about a single player. He didn’t sign himself for stupid money and provided more than some of our other rubbish signings.
