He got a straight red for kicking through his opponent multiple yards away from the ball. As I said usually they let that go as yellow but if you're just kicking a player with so little intention of playing the ball isn't it just the same as kicking out at a player who doesn't have it?
Especially after Mane got a talking to after simulation having been booked already
I've seen reds given for that before. It was a professional foul in the middle of the pitch. Yellow all day long. Ridiculous refereeing. You’ll never see another red given for that. Utterly ridiculous.
Well yeah.Funny how referees always seem to take a stand against these kind of things when it favours that lot.

But that isn't what I'm even saying. What I am saying is that the game would benefit if fouls like that were red because a. it opens up the game more and b. it is fairly unsafe to allow players to just kick out at others with no attempt to play football.
Players can adjust to the rules. And not every professional foul would be red. But kicking players legs from under them with your chance of playing the ball a solid 0% would be.Multiple players would walk every week if that’s a ref card. Ridiculous decision but in keeping with the general standard of refereeing when Liverpool play.

I love how every rule change meets that same "how will the players play?????" question like professional athletes can't train themselves to do different things. That's across sports.
The ref has sent him off for violent conduct. That is imo a valid interpretation of that play. It is not the most common interpretation. It probably should be.Well they’re not the current rules, regardless. It’s not a red card to foul a player in that manner. He didn’t prevent a clear goal scoring chance, and he didn’t do an out of control tackle with his studs up. Standard yellow card but the ref has made it all about him with a bizarre call as often seems to happen when Liverpool play.
Fair enough but I still maintain that the RS get the rub of the green more than most when it comes to refereeing decisionsThe ref has sent him off for violent conduct. That is imo a valid interpretation of that play. It is not the most common interpretation. It probably should be.
Gives them an erection hearing all those rabid RS fans cheering them.Funny how referees always seem to take a stand against these kinds of things when it favours that lot.
They obviously do. But standardizing a harsher policy toward persistent fouling and professional fouling would harm teams that are crazy pressing the most because the fouling is the safety blanket.Fair enough but I still maintain that the RS get the rub of the green more than most when it comes to refereeing decisions
