No, raw wages matter because you have to pay more to attract better players. Players talk about "oh I want CL football" and sure maybe the prestige matters some but what they really want is CL money.

That's what matters in terms of the financial sustainability of the club, but for winning trophies the correlation is with the total wage bill.

Absolute nonsense. Success on the pitch = more income = higher wage spend = better players, and repeat (if you get it right). We’ve chucked CL money at Championship players and wonder why we’re in the financial mire.

They’ve spent more wisely than us by every conceivable metric.
