No they're not, they're both DESCRIPTIVE sentences.

Let's say a black man is stood with a group of white men and you wanted to pick him out, whats the main descriptive you would use?

Using the term 'black man' isn't racist, as the player in question was indeed - black. Is is misogynistic to call a woman a 'woman'?

EXACTLY.

Again, I'm not saying I think it's racist I'm saying in this day and age it is considered not right to say "oh the black guy over there". Very simple.

Is black racist now? Seriously I have no idea anymore. Am I allowed to say the 'MoBO' awards are on tonight? Or are only black people allowed to call it that?

I think it's more that he referred to him as a black man instead of just man like he would do with all the white staff. Doesn't help that in his local language 'black' is pronounced the way it is - however he should be smart enough to mitigate that beforehand.

Yes, I think it was probably more of an ill-advised comment than a pre-meditated racial slur. The thing is that levels of exposure are now so intense that I reckon we’re going to continue hearing examples of distasteful language/ behaviour for the foreseeable future. Apparently innocuous expressions will continue to have similar ramifications to those more obviously overtly invidious insults and that is the sorry state that contemporary society finds itself in. Boo.

Like all things, it depends on the context.

I mean there’s plenty of ways to describe a person without bringing their skin colour into it. Might not necessarily be racist to everyone, but doesn’t mean it’s right either.

Hate to point it out but if all the coaches were black and there was one white coach, I'm sure said official would have said that white man instead.

But that wouldn't be considered racist in the same way this has been.

Racism does have double standards sometimes.

I doubt

He’s a fourth official in a champions league game, he should know the name and who is the assistant manager of one of the teams so he doesn’t have to refer to him by his colour.

He’s ignorant at best and has a case to answer.

He has to answer for the fact he doesn't know who Pierre webo is?

Christ we are easily offended these days

Yes because he’s the fourth official in the match.

He should know the names of the staff so he can address them properly and not by their appearance.

If you think asking somebody to do their job to a decent standard so the players don’t end up walking off the pitch because of something he’s said is being easily offended then that’s your problem.
