OK time lords, is time relative to each individual?

Why did summers last forever when I was a kid, but fly by now?

I witnessed a traffic accident last night. Why did it seem to me to be happening in slow motion?

At the match, why does time fly when your team is looking for a goal but drag when your team is defending a lead?

I've spent more than half my life with my wife, but it seems like only yesterday that we first met. Why?

Why does an hour spent taking an exam seem quicker than an hour spent doing a routine task?

There has to be more to the measurement of time than just maths. Sadly I can only ask the questions I'm too thick to answer.

Well a taxi drivers 5 minutes is certainly on a different scale to the chronographic measurement that we all use.

The miles on their meters seem shorter than the ones I'm used to as well.

That seems to come back to time and distance nicely.

It clearly does but its based on the speed against the distance to get the time variable! Rate of Speed + Distance = time variable! x+y=0.

If say the earth exploded and you were reverseing in a space ship away form it would you eventually see it come back together?

You would have to be traveling faster then the speed of light a huge distance. Your not manipulating real time, just speed and distance.

If say you did a roundtrip to the star and back by the same speed and distance you would arrive back in normal time rather then time travel.

Neiler's right. Although in theory if you could go fast enough it would work, in reality you can never exceed the speed of light (or so they say ;D ), so it wouldn't work.

If I recall from the early days of my quantum physics course that Gravity has an effect on time...For example if you were to synchronise 2 clocks and then take one of them to the top of a mountain (away from the source of gravity) then that clock would run faster..

Thats it though...don't expect anymore from me.

Isn't it the other way round? Doesn't time supposedly run faster closer to a blackhole, ie center of gravity? Which would mean it would run faster closer to the earth's core? Either way surely its just the actual measurements of time that change, otherwise time would be different all over the place and im pretty sure that would really [Poor language removed] things up!

This gives me fresh incentive to put forth my 'time' thread that never happened, although it's a little dark and I don;t think it would be welcomed as it's a bit nefarious, I will get round to it at some point, but I'm in two minds.

I was never a big fan of those Back to the Future movies, they were just as silly as hell, when they released the second sequel in 1989 it predicted in 30 years time (nine years from now), there would be hover boards, flying cars, talking pepsi machines and worst of all, instant pizzas that were six times the size as when you put them in.

Nice ideas, but I think they were getting a bit carried away there.
