Tim Howard

It's not his fault we are in a position as fans that we are having to be critical of a player that has been great for us.
Manager had to show some 12 months ago.

Agree to an extent, but Howard at the end of the day is the one responsible for his displays, not Martinez.

Martinez shouldn't pick him, but Howard should have put in better performances.

You think many footballers can perform to the same standard at 37 (in 3 weeks) as they did at their best? He's doing his best. The Manager has shown a lack of a pair here and nobody else is to blame.

Pretty sure Tim Howard didn't step onto the pitch thinking "I fancy having a stinker today!" He plays his best. Martinez picks the keeper he thinks will do the best job. That might be about more than just his goalkeeping ability. His influence in the dressing room etc comes into play. Robles has impressed lately and deserves his chance.if it turns out he's ready to command a regular first team spot, no one will be happier than Martinez.

No, he doesn't play his best quite obviously.

He showed what he is capable of (still) vs Spurs and City this season.

I'm not saying he means to have a stinker, but it's not Martinez's fault that he doesn't go out there and perform. He isn't the one who makes Howard cock up. He's unfortunately the one facilitating those cock ups by having put him in the team.

No, he quite obviously 'isn't doing his best'. Stop pinning it all on the manager. Howard is responsible for what he does out on the pitch.
