Despite our poor defending, we were 3-2 up and had the bit between our teeth before his clown shoes comedy act, that third Stoke goal completely changed the course of the game and handed the momentum back to them. Me and my Ald fella started spotting the flaws as early as before the cup final in 2009, we played West Ham and their no mark midfielder scored a screamer against us, but in reality it was more Howard being a cart horse and not actually being anywhere near where he should have been, even before then, who remembers Matt Taylor's halfway line effort for Pompey? Of course these got overlooked, but they've always been part of his game.
The difference between 2009 and 2015, is that he's 6-7 older, his Defence is vastly weaker, (say what you like about Stones, but the current John stones, I'd swap for 2008-09 Joleon Lescott Jagielka partnership ANYDAY), so any mistake is being magnified, but just like id say with Idan Tal, it's not his fault if he's getting picked, only Howard is the focal point of why we're so bad, his slow distribution, his inaccurate distribution, failure to command his box, lack of composure, insecurity over using his hands and his overall positioning contribute to him probably being the worst goalkeeper in the league. Yes, I will actually even go as far as criticising his penalty approach, in the modern game, so few players shoot in the middle of either side, so why he dives there every time is just annoying. I can remember 2 saves in 10 years.
Admittedly, he's been a good servant, we got spoilt with Martyn, and yes, Howard did provide us with 2-4 good seasons, but any bias blue will say the tinted specks, will favour him over simonsen, mhyre and Paul bloody Gerrard, as he was an upgrade, now let him go and be a hero back in the MLS, do us a favour, please.

Yea I know. He's just as much to blame as howard himself. It's gone on so long now its getting ridiculous.
Atmosphere will be bad on sunday if its announced hes playing. But it will become toxic if he makes even the slightest mistake. Its a complete mess.
Howard doesn't deserve half the crap he gets because he simply isn't good enough but keeps getting picked. He's finished as a top class keeper, has been for ages but if you have a manager who is that incompetent at making decisions based on football performance and not just some best mates act then there's nothing you can do as a fan
Boo Howard by all means, christ I would bit I would also be shouting for our manager to do one because he simply can't make big managerial calls.
Like our keeper, Martinez is not good enough for our football club.

Howard's head, then if it's still the same it's the manager's. IMO that's got to be who's held responsible. Our players are too good to be conceding like this.

Been on this for a while and never posted but after todays events i cannot contain the fume any longer. While I think Tim has been a good servant to the club, the past couple of years he has proven time and time again that he has lost the plot. That nonsense with the Gwladys pushed me over the line. He is an ego maniac who is still living off that one decent game he had in the world cup and to be honest any average keeper would have made those saves. He has cost us a lot of points this season and when you have a fairly young defense you need a confident stopper and he does not instill any sort of confidence in them. He has to go. Free Robles!

I appreciate the reasons for the ire directed at Howard as he's past his best and is over-vulnerable to error. However, I'm not going to join the fume because it is a futile expenditure of emotion. Martinez will pick Howard for the next season and a half...he rates Howard very highly. Having said that, I don't rate Martinez very highly at all and question his nous.
I don't think he will pick Howard for the next 18 months mate for the simple reason he won't be our manager for that long imo.
If he is, that would mean he's won us a cup or two because on league form he should be volleyed out of our club no questions asked.
