Tim Howard

His career is in a nosedive though. His stats from years ago are irrelevant in my opinion.

Says it all.
how are last years stats relevant then? The team as a whole played worse last year. Barry was gash a year ago but has been good this season, but he was crap last year so he's permanently crap right? Obviously Howard's at the tail end of his career and is falling off. He should be replaced after this season. That being said he's done alright this year and he's being held onto as it allowed us to spend money elsewhere last window to bring in Mori, Del, and Lennon. This coming after the previous summer's budget going on Rom and Besic. Martinez is overhauling the club one summer at a time as we don't have the cash to buy 4-5 first team quality players nor the desire to ship out what naive posters on here call "deadwood"( naive in the fact that 1. we'll get any significant amount of money for players like Mcgeady, gibson, Tim, etc) 2. that massive squad overall is helpful). Martinez decided to prioritize a new striker, CB cover, and new wingers ahead of GK. It's that simple. Also I really hope people don't get into a frenzy and call it a "massive disgrace" when we don't bring in a keeper in Jan. MArtinez doesn't do "big money" business in the winter window and why would any team sell a "world class" GK in the middle of their season?

Democrat or Republican mate?

Your friend was talking about 'career stats' in the Premier League. My point is stats from way back are no longer relevant. Last year's performance set the scene.

I think Howard's personality is Martinez's weakness.

We'll hopefully see tonight what Robles can do and take it from there.

Howard is not fit for the Premier League any more. We have to get shot of him. Simples.

Democrat or Republican mate?.
Neither, bit apathetic towards politics in general as its just ends up as two sides screaming "no I'm right" at each other over and over again which gets us nowhere. As with any side of most arguments both sides have good and bad ideas. Also context and situations play a role as well so sometimes a "Democrat" idea is the best solution, sometimes a "republican" idea is. Hardline camps are unproductive.

As for Howard he obviously has the backing of the manager so as long as he starts he has my support, same for robles. Just want Everton to win. Knowing martinez's tendencies Robles will stay the cup keeper and Tim in the league as he did at wigan. I still think martinez will look at keepers in the summer. He doesn't do much business in the winter.

Yes, I do mean this season. Regardless, his prem stats are pretty impressive. Over his career, he saves 1 in 3 pens.
His last 5 premier league penalties have gone in. Whilst I accept you used to be able to bank on him saving one a season, I dont think its correct to hail him as the stopper he once was.

Shame his other stats aren't quite as impressive

Was it something like for every 2.5 shots on target last season one ended up in our net

The worst stats in the league
Of course, those same stats have him pegged as one of the best keepers in the league this season. One goal allowed for every 3.9 shots on target. But stats don't matter, right?
