Tim Howard

You kind of reinforced my point. He has played well in the last couple of games but on a whole since last season his form has been very poor and he has lost us a lot more points than he has earned.Instead of acknowledging justified criticism for what it is and holding his hands up he just throw's hissy fit's to the media.

Since he came back into the team last February he's been in decent form, nothing outstanding, but decent and this season alone he's been better by and large than most goalkeepers in the league and that's backed up by the figures being posted. Confidence plays a big part of a professional sportsmans make up and if he lets what a small minority think effect him his performances are likely to suffer (and so will ours), just look at Barkley as an example of how quickly a drop in confidence can effect a players form. I can't understand the midset that's knocking about were people are taking such exception to a few throwaway lines in an interview. If a positive attitude is a problem for yourself and others don't read the interviews? It's not like we often hear from Howard anyway so it's not like it would be a big problem to ignore what he says.

As for the this idea he costs us points maybe we should start holding Lukaku up to the same standards? or Kone, Mirallas or any of the other forwards when they don't score goals. On Saturday Galloway played a lovely cross for Lukaku but he put it 6 inches wide, it was the sort of chance I'd expect a £28m forward to score to be honest and if he does we'd have likely got the win, but he missed the target he's paid a lot of money to hit and it cost us 2 points. I'm yet to see someone bitch about that on his thread but people have been berating Howard for not saving what will likely be a contender for goal of the season. It's a team game, they win and lose as one. Pointing out individuals really isn't valid because it's very rare it's as simple as being one players fault.

I expect a keeper to be brave on as a guess 55K per week too Doug!

He didn't reinforce your point.
Howard didn't have a hissy fit, he suggested he had talent.
You are the one who had a hissy fit because you don't like a grown man is confident in his ability

I think you're Lukaku argument is a bit flawed.Romelus job is to score goals.Tims job is to save them and Romelu has been a lot more impressive with regards to doing his job for the team than Tim Howard.Tims Evertons career is nearly up while Rom is a young man with a long career ahead of him.So it's not a like for like equivalent situation.

Confidence is an essential part of being a top class sportsman. It takes an exceptional person to know when his confidence outstrips his ability. Howard is not one of those exceptional people.
