also, howard is literally one of the quietest goalkeepers in europe, so he must be doing something other than communicating or being a decent goalie because he's neither of those.

Martinez clearly believes that a few 'core' players should play because of their status and experience, regardless of their poor overall form.

Barry through large stages of last season played regardless of how awful he was for large stages. Howard this season is another prime example.

Even McCarthy is starting to fall into this bracket, although that may be more due to lack of viable options to replace him.

I'm not all for tinkering all the time, however sometimes tweaks to playing staff and the formation are needed to utilise our strengths.
