I'm not hiding the fact that Barkley was partly at fault for both goals, he's had his criticism from me for it.

Ever since he conceded that goal against Stoke at the Britannia in 11/12, Kenwyne Jones scored. He's been shocking. That's not me being erratic or extreme in any way, that's me saying if one part of a team frequently lets the whole team down then they've got to start running out of chances. In 13/14, we would've got a draw against Chelsea if it wasn't for him, probably a win or a draw against Sunderland at home aswell, although Osman was at fault too.

He makes mistakes that people who seek to have low standards can excuse, dating back a few years. Newcastle at home in 2012/13 springs to mind. So does Leicester at home last year, Hull at home, I could go on all day.

Don't get me wrong, he was at one time a very good goalkeeper. We're now left with a goalie who doesn't come off his line, you can't even say he's a good shot stopper anymore when goals like Ighalo's go in.

He's been our first choice goalkeeper for years and for me it says a huge amount that the two best goalkeeping performances in my opinion in that time are Mucha against Man City and Joel against Crystal Palace.

What a load of absolute hyperbole tosh, the lowlight of which is of course that embarrassing last sentence.

LOOOOOL oh my, remember that, those two Demba Ba goals? Funniest pieces of goalkeeping I've ever seen. Remember the final day of that season when he spilled a pearoller of a shot into Mata's path?

My favourite Howard moment was when he sat down to let Aguero score at the end of the 13/14 season though, and when he dived about 48 years too late for Dzeko's header. I'll definitely forgive him for those moments, he rescued humanity there

As I said in the initial post you could go on for hours naming all of his mistakes.

You've either got an awful memory, a pathological hatred of Howard, on a WUM mission or the early onset of dementia if you're sticking to that.

I'm not going to enter into a debate about something with a person who uses something like dementia to try and insult me.

I have an opinion, grow up and respect it.

Remember when he cost us the FA Cup final?
Not Howards biggest fan but, remember when he helped get us there in the semi shoot out. Howards been a decent keeper for us over the years, unfortunately his weaknesses are a lot more to the fore now. What makes his decline all the more frustrating is that the rest of the team is taking shape nicely. If only we had another Southall on our books.

It was a genuine suggestion. You've clearly forgotten how bad Robles was against Palace and how greatful he was for Jags and Stones both clearing off the line from unforced Robles mistakes. As for the Mucha in the City game, he was a bag of nerves and had no discipline but showed bravery at best. luckily he wasn't as awful as many predicted he would be before the game, but he was far from solid.

A genuine suggestion? I imagine you mustn't have had somebody close to you suffer from dementia have you? Have some tolerance and think about what you're writing to somebody on an Internet forum about football when someone's just sharing their opinion. Don't joke about things like that, mate. It's not funny whatsoever.

The problem I have with Howard is that he's 80% good. What I mean by that is he will do some ridiculous saves that keep us in a game but then someone will go 1v1 and he'll be down to the ground like a fat kid looking for a chocolate bar. He's too unreliable to be a keeper. I'd rather someone is 7/10 every week rather than going from a 9/10 to a 4/10 between two matches.

I don't think Joel is the answer either but are there really that many great keepers out there available now? Rare commodity. Could maybe push through for youth and get someone like Brighton's Walton or Southend's Bentley who are quite highly rated lower league keepers.

Stokalona aren't going to sell us Butland you dreamers.
