At least I believe so. Howard last year had a magnificent season by his standards, culminating in a genuinely world-class performance at the World Cup. But if you look at his stats from last year they were total outliers. So much higher than his average.

Da fuq is an outlier theory ? I watch football with my own eyes..... I can make my own judgements based on what I see.

I apologize i thought you had posted it when in was someone else, he still had a better season than 4 of the keepers you posted though in only his 4th best season for everton.

He's been good for us, no doubt joey. But stats are history, simply looking into the past. He's not great right now mate, and I think his star is slowly starting to dim.

I agree 100%, its just that when some posters use stats against someone they must be able to accept them when it proves them wrong as well.

And then the question of whether Martinez even sees it as an issues. Which i'm scared he doesn't.

I don't care how many Americans love him, his form has been hit and miss for years but this season he's been truly woeful and would be definitely out the team if we had a competent understudy.

If an MLS side come calling for him, I'd happily let him go home and make a few quid because he's well and truly in decline. We need to replace him.

I've seen him make some terrible errors and it really did put me off for a while. However, he's still young and very well thought of.

Marshall from Cardiff looked quality last year. He's 29 but we could get 3 or 4 good seasons out of him at least.

I would not be opposed to Marshall at all.

Howard's form has been indifferent so far this season along with almost every other player besides maybe Mirallas, Baines and McCarthy. But for the previous 18 months he's been very consistent and one of the top keepers in the league, he's not long signed a 3 year contract extension which indicates Martinez isn't looking to replace him any time soon, unless of course an exceptional offer is made.

It's very unlikely Martinez is going to change a 3/4 year plan of squad managment and overhaul because Howard has had a few below par games so far this season. To upgrade on Howard at the moment we'd be looking to sacrifice the next phase of signings that Martinez thinks would improve the squad and move us forward, it's clear given the contract situations and their respective ages and form that the next major signings will be a new central defender and an attacking/creative midfield player. These positions are by far more pressing and in need of strengthening before our number 1 goalkeeping position.

The best we can hope for is a more competent and reliable young understudy to come in who can challenge and maybe replace Howard in the long run, or hope Robles makes a huge leap and kicks on. In short don't moan in twelve months time when either Distin or Osman are pulling on a shirt again for the second game in 3 days and our new £12m+ keeper gets beat at the near post.

I'm very patriotic, not sure what opinion its clouding though. He should be dropped and ive not stated anything different since Hull. His form doesnt alter how wrong you have been about his previous years either.
