Last season, yeah he was one of top 3 or 4 in the league. This year, he's been below par, but he's only not good enough if we can do better right now, and at the moment, I don't think we can.
Top 3 or 4 ? Come on, play the game .[/QUOTE]

Name 4 better on last season's form...Look back at posts and plenty even on here agreed with me. De Gea maybe? Cech. Who else? You'd be hard pressed to find mistakes he made last year.

There's 5.

Was it last season Howard jumped like over the ball like a starfish in the Newcastle game ...... ( I'll stand corrected if it was the season before ), I'm not denying he had a decent season by his standards last year, I just don't think he's anywhere near top 4 in the league and is getting progressively worse before our very eyes.

Ok mate. Lloris and Hart? Not last year. Maybe Migs, but that's a big maybe. The fact that your seasons are running together says all that it needs to when were supposedly juding one season on its own. You're selling the man short. He was very very good for the past year and a half before this one. Starfish was back in 2012, and I think it was early in that season at that....

Look, I really don't want it to sound patronising but this is a debate we will never agree on , you are American and your sense of patriotism won't allow you an unbiased opinion on this. Look at previous threads discussing Donovan, Bradley, Altidore etc...... It's not a bad thing to be so patriotic but it does somewhat sway your opinion.

Or maybe I'm wrong and Howard is fantastic.

In my defense I did say Brek Shea was crap and would always be crap when folks were saying he'd turn out good. :) Don't know if that helps my cause since it was so blatently obvious. If you look back, when Howard was having a crap run 2 years ago, I said as much. When he was good last year, I said as much. When he's been below par this year (and he has been), I've said as much. However, the fact that you don't recognize his quality last year makes it sound like you have some bias as well. I probably do have some myself. Folks on here overreact and get stuck in their opinions whether they should change or not. Form is temporary, and I expect Howard will turn it back up to what his level can be. If he doesn't in the second half, and he looks past it, then let's look for a new keeper. He was very good for 18 months and has been poor for 3. Give the man a chance to get back on form is all I'm saying. Unfortunately we don't have any better options to spell him in the interim. If you want to throw everyone out after 3 off months, then let's get rid of Barkley, Barry, and half the rest of the squad. Cheers.

Now you're just making things up I never said. Read back and tell me where I've dissed his performance last year ? I've said he had a decent season last season by his standards.

He was good by any standard, not his (which you don't seem to appreciate). You also just said you thought his starfish jump was last year.

I also said I'd stand corrected if wrong..... But that doesn't suit your argument does it ? Ha ha, I'd love to carry this on but I have to get to work.

what utter patronising tosh, lets delete the Hibbert, Osman & Barkley threads seeingvas only non scousers can have an objective opinion.

In the stat thats been used by posters on here as a stick to beat Howard with (save percentage) Howards average in his whole EPL career (to rubbish your 'outlier' theory) is better than the 4 in bold in 13/14.

Who's mentioned any of the above players ? You're jumping into something purely to defend a fellow American ha ha ha..... Pathetic.

Da fuq is an outlier theory ? I watch football with my own eyes..... I can make my own judgements based on what I see.

He's been good for us, no doubt joey. But stats are history, simply looking into the past. He's not great right now mate, and I think his star is slowly starting to dim.
