I don't know any other team in the 'top 8' that would give a 35 year old a new contract until he's 39.

pirlo's possibly the only one in world football atm you could give one too.

i knew it would haunt us as soon as the story broke (probably said it in this thread) - i know friedel's about 41 playing for a top 8 team, but he's where they need to be, not even on the bench.

howard had a great season last season, but before that he was poor for years and needed replacing as first choice - we're going to look like right mugs now.

If we put Howard up for sale you can sure there are teams with ambitons of a European place who would snap him up right away.

Not really, Howard is far better than that clown at Liverpool and Uniteds goal keeper for a start.

De Gea is nothing special, ok he pulled off 2 top saves today and was possibly the best United player, but over the course of a season he will and has made far more solo mistakes than Howard will.

The problem with keepers is the mistakes they make that lead to goals gets highlighted far more than the outfield players, and because we have been such a mess across the back 4, its making it harder for Howard than it would be if we were either better organise, or had a better CB partnership.
