Tim Howard - new contract

I think this is good.

He may not be Neville Southall, but who will be? He's a perfectly serviceable keeper, has mucho experience and is quite reliable.

I think we need to acquire two top class forwards (like the other lot) before even thinking about getting a new keeper.

Would you replace a boiler that's working perfectly well while your window sills are falling out?

Been excellent this season.

We defo need to change number two GK again though.
Yes I'd say.

Perhaps that Schmeicel kid? Or David Marshall?

They may turn out to be more than back up keepers. Jan Mucha didn't push Howard and he perhaps became relaxed and in a comfort zone. Pushing is what keepers need to retain form.

Giving a player a contract until he's 39 is bonkers in my eyes. Doesn't matter if he's a keeper or not.
I agree, been great but he had 2 years left anyway didn't he which was enough, could have looked at it last summer or just given a one year extension with the pay rise but another 2 is a gamble.

Good man Howard Tims, happy to see him stay that long, and as above we would get a fee if he moves on before that time.

Not liking all the writing off of Robles though. He is young and has shown plenty at Wigan and even in his few games for us that he has potential. Most seem to ignore the fact that many many top goalkeepers go for the punch rather than catch. Surprised me the complaining over that, which seems to be the main gripe.

Maybe Ruddy would come back if Norwich go down?

Stay on topic in the everton forum please Grouch!

When you look around, for a consistent keeper,Tim would be very difficult for us to replace, yeah he makes errors, which keeper doesn't but in general I come back to that word, consistent!!

Knee jerk reaction by Everton (of proportions usually reserved for match threads when we lose) to him having a decent season by his standards.

Of course it matters... there are many excellent keepers out there towards their late 30s and Tim is as fit as ever. There isn't a trace of aging in his game. If anything, he has raised the bar even higher. I'm happy we will have him for many years to come, he's saved us on numerous occasions this year.
