Can't give him any more credit then loved by the supporters and respected by his opponents. I doubt in the last 10 years has an everton player been discussed so much in opposition dressing rooms. E.g how to stop him, who to pick him up and dead ball situations, watch his late runs into the box etc.
Got to be honest had his limitations as a footballer. But made up for it in his sheer determination and desire to be the very best that he could. He didn't get the send off he deserved IMO. Would love to see him back at the club in some capacity.

Agreed, probably the most important goal for us. We had been utterly desperate before that.

Remember Beattie saying "we're only 8 games in for goodness sake" after we'd lost seven of them, and though he was proven right it was just a horrendous slog of a miserable season

My favourite will always be his first goal Vs. City, and him getting sent off, but he's a true Icon.

Icon, not legend. Gave 110% every game, top lad.
 
Very well rewarded as a professional footballer in this era but I have loads of time for Cahill because he played as though he had an inkling of what footy means to the fans. A narky get I am sure on the pitch... But he was our narky get. As the Aussies say, you can't buy ticker.

Exactly id say he.turned.down.the.chance to play in many champions league clubs because he was a blue. Duncan Ferguson then Cahill kept the legend flame burning. Barks was on his way this season to get closer to it. But I dont want it but there be talk about that right now. Buts me in a bad mood.
 
He played as hard and with as much passion for Everton as any of us on here would have. And he couldn't half head a ball.
