Thomas Graveson - One of our best?

Tommy was a flower in sometimes very dark times at Everton. He gave people a lift when it was needed.

Surprised he didnt find another club after his second spell with us though - he was only 32 and hardly depended on pace at the best of times.

Him, Cars and Johnson were a slaphead triple threat alright.

Carsley was better than Gravesen surprised some people think otherwise.

When Carsley left we didn't look anywhere near as good as we were, took a while for us to recover.

There was a period of time when he was injured, we were rubbish and he came back and we went good again.

Underrated player.

This all day long, agree with those saying that Gravesen was so inconsistent. He had a fantastic 6 months when he was coming towards the end of his contract which led to Real Madrid coming in for him, once he'd signed a lucrative contract he immediately went back to being an inconsistent headless chicken.

Great character = yes
Great footballer = no

I think Carsley was the Gibson of his day and we hadn't really replaced him until Gibson came in. Carsley at his peak would still get in our current team, don't think Gravesen would.

I also rated Carsley, but not ahead of the current line-up. Who would you have him instead of?

He would be a suitable replacement for Gibson, not 'better' than Gibson though but certainly better than Neville or Heitinga who tend to come in for Gibson at the moment. I can't say the same for Gravesen, I can't even say I know what Gravesens favoured position or role was (don't know if he ever did either!) to compare him to another player in the squad.

I'd have Carsley in my team over Gravesen all day long. Took us a long time to replace Carsley. All though hated by many Neville did the job well for a while and hopefully Gibson will get back to fitness and take the mantel on for many years to come.

In fairness I think to say that Gravesen or Carsley were "one of our best" is an insult to the "best" who have played for our club (Alan Ball, Colin Harvey, Peter Reid, Howard Kendall, Joe Royal, Adrian Heath), they were the best of that era. I would make a case for Cahill and Arteta for being amongst the best during our Premiership years.

Umm, yeah?

Hence why he's always f*cking in it, throw in his own injury and he's played in 18 out of our 25 games so far this season.

Sorry I disagree. Neville would not be in our starting line-up if everyone's fit. He is not in Moyes' first choice 11.

Anyone who's seen my post in the new arrivals section will know my stance here. Thomas Graveson was honestly the first Everton player I could point to and say "He's my favourite!"

I thought the man was excellent. Anyone else like to jump in and sing his praises? Anyone wish to be controversial and knock him?

Now is the time!

if you liked him that much you should at least show him enough respect to spell his name right. Gravesen !
