2025/26 Thierno Barry

I still think he was terrible, gave the ball away all the time, can't protect it, is not very fast or strong, makes terrible decisions...but got 2 tap ins, fair play I suppose.

I can't stand him.
I think saying he was terrible when he came on for half an hour and scored twice is a teeny bit over the top. His all round game is definitely lacking and i'm still not really seeing anything that tells me how he's going to cause teams problems in general play, but fairs fair he's a striker and he came on and changed the game, i'd take that any day to be honest.

Yep, it absolutely is, its because I can't stand him.

He got a "fair play" from me, but that's all I can give.

Lukaku also, the amount of pull backs he’s on the end of. It’s absolutely a quality of good movement and predatory instinct.

Kane is probably the best I’ve seen at it. I still have no idea how a bloke who has no pace, isn’t amazingly technical in tight spaces, isn’t massively big or strong, isn’t great in the air, somehow is one of the best strikers in history. But when the ball comes across the box he’s in the right place every time.

Obviously we’re talking completely different levels to Barry, but I’ve seen loads of Everton strikers who could stand in the box all day and never look like scoring. The ball finds Barry in the box. If we can work on the rest of his game he’ll always get goals at this level just through that quality alone.

I think Kane is very underrated technically mate, hes an incredibly clever player - one of the most intelligent around and hes a very gifted technical finisher.

I dont know if people have watched him much at Bayern - but he has adapted his game wonderfully, in terms of dropping deep and playing almost a play maker orle - some of his distribution any midfild play maker would be made up with.

Despite his high profile i still think hes incredibly underrated as a top top level player.

Oh yeah no he’s very good at everything you’ve just said, his passing range and movement is incredible.

But he’s hardly got the feet of Messi has he, or the physical power of a Zlatan, he’s not going to do an R9 and dribble past three then round the keeper.

It’s his intelligence that makes him world class and he’s a top finisher as well off both feet, but he’s a good example that you don’t need to have every gift under the sun to be a top striker.

There’s a lot of strikers I feel now not even doing the basics of penalty box movement, I’d put Beto in there as well, DCL also apart from when Ancelotti had him. But Barry in fairness to him does know how to get across his man at the front post, how to lose his marker in the box etc. if we get better service to him he’ll score in my view.

It’s actually interesting when you look at the tool kit of a forward.

Take DCL, he’s got some great attributes but is a horrible finisher. Contrast with Barry who can get out muscled but knows how to slot front facing or ball coming to him on the deck.

With both Beto and Barry one of the most frustrating things for me this season has been in the main banging in crosses to them via slow build up play and then being crowded out of it in the box - I don’t think that’s eithers game - they are much more comfortable on the shoulder of the last man and ball to feet.

I think what we saw last night is how dangerous Barry can be vs a high line - Beto to be fair also had one or two opportunities - but he got pulled into a physical battle with Guhei more, Barry used the space more.

Same. Got some absolute gifts yesterday but I’m more convinced now than before that he has to be sold. Still fuming that he just turned and walked back towards half after Illy made his sprint forward to try and see it out. Lazy at worst. Completely unaware at best. Give me Beto all day long.
