2025/26 Thierno Barry

I want our strikers to score loads of goals.

I just don't want that useless piece of rubbish to play for our club next season.
2 against Man City and you're still moaning.

People came rushing to this thread to criticise Barry, when others were far more deserving of it.

Yes he could work harder, but he played well last night, changed the game when he came on.

A big issue we have is that Beto is equally dreadful when he isn’t scoring goals. They’re basically the same player except Beto tries harder and is more likeable. I’d still look to get rid of Barry in the summer but we need someone of more quality as our starting striker.

The lad can actually play with the ball at his feet and finish on the deck.
So why on earth are our strikers spent the whole match scrapping for headers?
There isn’t another side left in the league that still plays this prehistoric way. I mean, look at Haaland—he can’t even defend the near post at a corner, and he’s a machine!

Surprised he didn't lift his shirt so show an arsenal vest supporting his brothers
He did look super motivated yesterday...

Glad he had a good game though, even without the goals, he was winning the headers and flicks and getting busy. A vast improvement on recent performances from him. Could have done with more pressing and dropping back in final 5-10 mins to close out the game though, but same for Ndiaye etc who also were still on front foot too much

I still think the lad has more talent than Beto.

Issue is, we have one younger lad with potential but poor work ethic vs a likeable guy with superb work ethic but poor ability

I think he should have been re-subbed near the end. Was blowing for tugs and kept losing the ball. Needed to hold the ball up not give it back to them

You could tell by his goal celebrations (or lack of) that he just wants away. Hopefully he can score a few more before the end of the season to bump up his fee.

Though he changed the game last night, City played a high line and he was able to get in behind and make space with his movement. I was impressed with both his goals. He changed the game IMO.

He’s not going to be a player who’s going to thrive banging in 50 crosses a game - but the value of what he can bring is last night.

I said at the start of the year, if he can improve on what DCL brought last year I’d be happy with that - he has. 8 PL goals so far.

Think there is more to come from him, far from writing him of.

Difference between Barry and Beto is Barry has a better instinct for where to be. Theyre both deficient in a lot of ways but if a ball is dragged back across the box I feel like Barry is on the end of it whereas Beto just always seems just ahead or behind.

Barry gets a lot of goals that just bounce off him or he sticks a leg out. That’s a striker that’s getting in the right positions and you can’t teach that.
