2025/26 Thierno Barry

Compared to the derby he seemed to be trying, by that I mean he seemed a bit more lively. But a lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot more is needed in order to stop our season slipping away. We need goals and this is where he seems to be struggling. I do not know if it's a psychological issue, a fitness issue or that he's not good enough.

A few months ago seemed to have potential and a fairly decent mentality, that doesn't go overnight. Whatever the issue is the club needs to be doing everything to get him scoring if we want even a remote shout at Europe.

I'm not in the business of hating players, I'm in the business of supporting every player so we can have a few European days out next season.

Whilst I want our players to do well… if they have an attitude problem and clearly can’t even apply themselves properly when on that pitch then they have everything coming to them.

Honestly…. Would rather our fans boo him so him and the manager get the idea. It’s then purely down to his attitude how he responds and I know that is only one way.

There is zero point him being on the pitch…. He offers absolutely nothing to the game and that’s the way he wants it

I disagree. He’s just not good enough to play at the speed of a PL match.
The lad should have never played for us again after the arsenal game and slagging the fans off. It's that simple. I'd play the u15s striker before him. And to be fair, he'd probably do better

I remember that podcast I went to in the USA where Moyes was asked about Barry. He basically called him turd without being that direct.

He knew. Which makes me believe he either didn't want him or just signed off on it because he needed a warm blooded mammal over nothing.

Honestly, I'd prefer to have kept the money and had nothing. Come out and throw him under the bus, Moyes, he's kin useless, gormless, and has no desire to work hard at all.
He apparently had Charlie Adam and Adam Irvine go and watch Barry.

Moyes scouted him buddy.

The only time in his career i can remember Moyes admitting a mistake was Kroldrup.

Said this last week, and to be clear really it's more a criticism of Moyes than an endorsement of Barry.

But if you have to play Barry, you get players around him. The one part of his game that I think you can credit is his link up play. This Barry performance, similar to when he came on last week is just exactly what I would expect to see when we're not adapting how we play at all from when Beto is playing up top.

Beto thrives in isolated space. He's at his best when in a pure physical battle against his centre back, and at his worst when trying to dribble or play one two's. Barry is the polar opposite, cant hack the battle against PL centre backs but is capable of creating chances if he has teammates in close proximity.

If you have no choice but to play Barry, then you're setting yourself up for failure by asking him to do the job that Beto does.

Moyes has 1 way of playing and 11 players picked to do so at the end of preseason.

He sticks to it and them every game.

See how we typically attack down the left with Grealish? Same without.

See how we typically attack down the right as if we had Ndiaye? But instead its isolated Dibling or McNeil to cut inside.

Theres no new tactic if his first 11 arent available.
