2025/26 Thierno Barry

Attitude and application of a prime Berbatov combined with the legs and ability of Geoff Thomas. As we keep hearing from the people who believe they are in the know on here, he must really be doing it in training because the players who don’t see much, if any game time at all, can’t be working hard enough…

I don't buy into this thing were some are acting like he downed tools after the Arsenal stuff. To me he has been bad all season and only done ok ish in one game. Said it many, many times that his goals covered up his bad performances. Even after scoring - scored in 2 games he should have been subbed off way earlier, he went back to messing up touch, taking ball over line as he did not know were he was and so on. He runs as though he will trip himself up instead of finding spaces etc
Think there was a large amount of goodwill extended to him to begin with.
He’s never looked any good truth be told but no one wants to slaughter a new (youngish) player in their first season in a new league.
There was a hope he’d find his feet and grow into the league.
He arguably looks worse now than he did at the beginning of the season, but he certainly isn’t improving.
God only knows what made anyone think he would be a good fit for this league or even this club tbh.

I was all for giving him time to settle in , in fairness most were
But he is showing nothing at all, what exactly is his main attribute?
He isn't strong, particularly fast, got a decent leap but not when under pressure, positional sence just isn't there.
In all honesty you could get the same results out of any lower league centre forward.
Don't know if we can offload him , but wouldn't be surprised if we tried.

Who authorised the signing of this lad and why?

Thats the rub. You dont want them in that position again making decisions like this as i think its scary you go watch potential signings and think he's up to scratch for this league. I thought after 45 minutes against Roma he'd have to up everything to be good in this league.
I dont think lots of clubs in the PL are buying him. Its a very Everton recruitment.

You think we are stuck with him ?

I couldn't see any with Kean either.
Lookman looked ok just couldn't get the minutes but no Everton fan would have dreamt he would reach the level he has.
Kean was always really good at getting shots off which isn’t a half bad place for a striker to start from.

Lookman being a top class player was well within what his early returns showed here. I’d put his time at Everton in terms of raw potential higher than like Ndiaye or Gordon.

If he was a vinyl album, it would be this one.

The recruitment bods, anyone who has ever known and criticised Moyes knows he is the exact opposite of a Moyes signing.
Moyes used to get stick for dithering and watching players too much, wanting them to work hard, have a good attitude, signing experience instead of instead of youth. Whereas the new recruitment teams style of today want to buy young and hope to make money.

When you watch him play in Villarreal he seems like he can coordinate his limbs and run around purposely. Maybe we signed his awful twin brother by mistake 🤔
