2025/26 Thierno Barry

It was really annoying that he was playing well until he missed that sitter, right for the first seconds with that knock down for Garner’s shot as well

As soon as he missed his head went though, stupid booking and never looked in the game again until coming off

Both him and Beto have seven or so weeks until we have to be bringing in a striker unless one of them has a major turn around

We cannot buy another striker because we use this as an excuse for not fixing the rest of the problems we have. David Moyes cannot be the manager when we spend money on another striker at a minimum.

Agreed if you’re TFG why would you give him money to sign a striker given what’s happened since the summer. A loan most likely I think.

I’d rather we gave Barry lots of rope to push through and find some form. We’re already using a loan player who’s future here is tenuous at best to keep a developing player out of position and it’s probably best if we don’t do that at another position just to finish 11th instead of 14th.

He has posted a story on Insta featuring a voiceover from Thierry Henry describing how good he is and how fans often dismiss his talents before appreciating them.

I'm all for confidence, but putting stuff like this out there when you haven't had a shot on target since you've been at the club, is probably a bit premature. I feel like some of these footballers are really badly advised. I'd much prefer a player who got his head down and worked hard to improve their performance before they do stuff like this.

The story for anyone who is interested https://www.instagram.com/stories/t.barry29/
I cant dare look at it, that is so cringe.

If you are having to feed out someone else's view on you, all your doing is trying to convince yourself.

To me that says alot about a person/player..

If he was playing well, it was only by the terribly low standards we've created for our strikers. He retained possession a few times and he gave it away a few times. That's all I can remember.

Come on now, as a Frenchman he was probably more made up that he got a shout from a French PL legend, more than anything.
I get that it would be a nice honour for him, a top player has spoken out about him.

And that's why i said "To me" before i mentioned how i see it.

If I had a Social media account, I would want to be actually showing what I have achieved, over what someone has said about me.

He is putting alot of pressure on his shoulders doing that.

He's updated his profile photo on Instagram. Beto starts tomorrow then.

Most footballers have, in one form or another, since they were kids. I bet if you asked most of them (after retirement and "the cape" comes off), few ranked up and immediately felt like they belonged (Rooney, for instance) but most that reach this level have done so through perseverance.
