Barry could have been the best striker available to us that would agree to joining us. It's very possible. It's easy to forget how bad we've been.
"could" is doing a lot of pulling - how bad we've been yet still could offer 30m and no doubt a better than most of Europe wage. Once again, I get what you're saying, but maybe we should scout further/better, we're not a no-go destination and I honestly doubt
Thierno Barry was the only available striker who we could get, again, in the entirety of Europe and for this fee.
That said I think he's doing okay, "his record isn't that bad on paper if he adds some goals", those easy chances should've been his and he'd be on a 1 in 3 record (or maybe better? I certainly recall at least 2 or 3 awful misses), which is honestly great, but he missed them as we know frustratingly well. Hope he starts slotting them soon like, for his confidence sake at least, and so we can do better in the league!
My frustration with this transfer isn't really with him per se, it's that we absolutely knew what
Moyes wanted - big, strong forward who will be good at buildup/holding the ball and will likely get chances to slot - yet we got a "project" forward who's half of those things on a good day and nothing else, to go with Beto who's... well, Beto. Hope we address this somehow during the summer, but there'll be a lot to address.
