I’ve read a few times that ‘he wasn’t meant to be starting games’, it’s absolutely bonkers.
He’s a 23 year old, £27 million striker, and his sole competition is Beto, who has never ever been able to do the basics. Of course he was going to start games!

Hes got 5 goals from a xg of 5.23 and having 1.1 shots per game.
The lad scores goals. We just dont create chances for him to score.

Barry has a lot of promise, works his backside off, needs to build his strength up as he’s a big lad and you’d hope to see him bullying defenders, I do worry he seems to constantly be going down with the shoulder issue, hopefully he’s not carrying an injury needing surgery and we’re doing more harm than good in playing him albeit we have slim pickings up front.
I feel like I'm existing in a different reality when I believe he was able to carry and link up the ball In a capable way yesterday, he was provided scarce opportunities on goal ,banging in crosses over his head or kicking set piece or set piece into a crowded group of players near the goalkeeper doesn't count either. I think there’s truth to both. We create no chances and give poor service to him. He’d no doubt be better, score more goals if we had a more cohesive attacking game plan. Probably true of any striker.
Comparing him to DCL at the same age though is night and day. DCL gave defenders a real tough time, he had physicality and presence - it’s a stroll in the park to play against Barry. He’s absolutely miles off it for the job Moyes is asking him to do.
If we're lucky, we might find somebody prepared to take him off us in the summer on a 12-months, no permanent transfer obligation deal where Everton pay 80% of his salary.

Missed one against Bournemouth too. Keeper spilled a tame shot and he miscued the rebound. I think there will be other examples too.
I get what you're saying and that's why I waited until he'd played 20 odd games. I want it to work but also just don't see enough potential never mind ability.

I don’t think anyone could blame him for not scoring, we create nothing. It’s the other parts of the game. Work off the ball, pressing. Yoro could have played in his pjs and slippers last night. He’s so easy to play against. He does have a decent touch I’ll give you that.

Think the real clanger was Moyes deciding to go into the season with Beto as our main centre forward. Purple patch last season but he’s miles off it, no surprise the goals have dried up. He’s surely away in the summer.
Barry I guess they knew he wasn’t the finished article and hope he’ll improve with time.guess he’ll start next season as backup, maybe put a bit less pressure on him.

The easy to play against shout is correct. It's so rare he gets the better of a defender, which means they know they can get right on top of him and give him no space. If you're up against a forward who can spin you, then you drop off that bit more. No one does that against Barry.
Getting a new striker is still as important as two new full backs in the summer.

Must be the easiest striker to play against in the prem. Still cannot believe he has defenders. No attacking instinct, never attacks space or the back post. The opposite of clinical. ‘buT hIS xG’ the stat gooners need to give it a rest. He’s horrendous.
