I think he's finding it difficult adjusting to the pace and fury of the game here. He looks a bit lost when he comes off the bench and doesn't seem to be able to get into the game. I think a goal would do him the world of good, but, I can see why Moyes is picking Beto ahead of him. As poor As Beto's finishing was yesterday, we looked far less likely to score when Barry came on.
Bit weird, he comes on for 20 mins, but plays like he’s starting. Assuming properly warmed up, I’d rather he ran around like a mad man when they have the ball, chasing lost causes, maybe putting pressure on and winning throw ins, forcing mistakes, maybe even getting a chance. Just get into the game, feel involved. At least make the game feel like a change has been made and fresh legs are on. He comes on and plays calmly and plonks himself on exactly the same bit of grass Beto vacated. Not sure what he gains from that.
Think he will be ok. Has the tools. Either needs to take it upon himself to throw himself into his chances a bit more, or he’s being sent out with too much of a gentile mindset of no pressure, ease yourself in lad. Light a fire under him.
He is not a child. Plenty of clubs buy strikers from overseas, have no choice but to play them and they are already up and running.
