Bit of hindsight history here. Dean Ashton moved to Norwich for £3 million the same time Beattie moved to Everton for £6 million. Ashton was considered a big risk.

Not sure it’s hindsight tbh, I remember having discussions with my Everton mates at the time about Ashton v Beattie. Basically Ashton looked a better player and was cheaper, Moyes just didn’t like taking risks hence why he went for Beattie.

Yes mate. But it's a rare quality in Everton strikers. Look at Kevin Campbell. Well regarded by Evertonians but I think his season best in blue was 12.

Sometimes I think the 20 goal + striker fixation is just unrealistic, especially in today's game. Having said that a couple of forwards who could get 10-12 each would be nice.
