2025/26 Thierno Barry

Did some alright things again when nowhere near the goal.

Unsettled their centre halves at times and competed gamely.

Absolutely zero threat to him though, that is a massive concern.

Barry looks slightly technically better but Beto is a live wire and gives the defenders something to do.

Barry is ridiculously easy to defend against

I think I'd go with Beto against Burnley definitely. Looking at our team yesterday, I couldn't see where a goal would come from. For all his faults, Beto probably is the most likely with the players we habe available at the moment.

I thought that was his worse performance last night, I wonder at what stage do the management realise they made a massive mistake with this signing....did Moyes actually watch him ?. that's where I really struggle, 50,000 have been watching this lad, what percentage of those people actually would have signed him. Same as Beto truth be told, neither are anywhere near championship quality

Same argument as with dcl. What was created for him last night? How many balls were put in the box, down the line or players running ahead of him.

Creatively, we were poor yesterday. Zero shots on target confirms that.

We had zero pace on the pitch. He also won a penalty (wrongly not given) getting himself about. I think he is adjusting to the physicality but again, we create very little without Kdh, illy and and no full backs.

Yes the service is non-existant unless you count long Tarkowski punts up field to him as service, but he's still looked absolutely hopeless on the rare occasions he's had the ball at his feet.

Apart from one 'good' performance when he won a lot of headers against United a few weeks ago, there's not one single game where he's looked anything like a Premier League striker.

Just like with Beto, if the ball dropped to his feet in the box, or if he was put though with just a defender to beat, or hell, even one-on-one with the keeper, you'd fully expect him to trip over his own feet.

We released DCL and had one useless lanky fella left in the squad that we deemed to be a striker — how on earth our scouts looked at Barry and thought "he's the one" is beyond me. £30m! And we clearly had more money to spend because we lashed £35m on Dibling who was apparently deemed one for the future. None of this "he's the best we could get with our limited funds" — we had loads of money available.

DCL missed loads of 1v1s then Beto had a run of goals in games.

With Beto we played quick direct football getting him chances and he looked better with Alcaraz behind him.

This season we're neither slow build up nor quick and direct.

We certainly arent countering and creating, look at Rohl bringing the ball forward with 9 players behind him.

Look at McNeil a one footed left sided player used on the right.

We could go and sign Nicolas Jackson for £57mil as rumoured. Whats he going to do without service?
