I agree with you. You mistake me for someone defending him. I said in my previous posts he is doing terrible in the PL. I was just pointing out that he has a history of being able to score but is really struggling in the PL and we are not in a position to be patient and mollycoddle him. We need a striker who can hit the ground running as soon as the window opens. It should be top priority imo.

Well we’ve got two of the worst centre forwards in the entire league as our only options.
Moyes has made it clear that he is very involved in recruitment, scouting, signing off players. Nobody is signed without his approval.
So who else do you blame?

Bring in capable Fb's, ( like most have said since the window ) Illy and Jack both than have more freedom whilst having trust with the overlapping Fb's.
CM's than get more freedom in their role's, instead of carrying the weight of having to clean up after our present Fb's.
Reduce "Barry's" workload, he's not a player that should be chasing round like a dog, he needs more balls infront of him, not permantly back to goal.
The difference 2 competent Fb's can provide, can't be taken for granted. They will compliment the whole team structure, quicker counters and more crosses/chances.
At the moment his game is outside the box, a link for other runners play off.
When your role is set out like that, you ain't hitting 15 goals..
Look and rate Barry, once he's had the chance to play to his strengths.
He might surprise people, he might not..
He might be a good squad player, he might be

When we bought him a stat was being banded about that all or the majority of his goals in La Liga were one touch and that slightly concerned me at the time.
But then you can take that stat a couple of ways:
1. He's a lethal finisher. A great many top strikers have made entire careers out of just consistently putting the ball in the net (DCL found that worked under Ancelotti); or
2. The goals he's scored were from a flukey run of games where his positioning and finishing was way above his usual level.
Hopefully it's the former. He's found himself in some decent positions had 3 chalked off. If it's the latter he'll need to be moved on.
He's got some super players around him to produce chances and those players look like they're gelling, so we'll know pretty quickly which way his story will go.
Hope he makes it.
I wonder if (m)any other £30 million strikers have had such a poor goals return over almost half a season as this guy has? Embarrassing.

Maybe some of all of that. I mean even though he is clearly struggling in the PL, i haven't seen much so far that makes him look like a good striker. I find him infuriating tbh. Last thing we need is having to permanently stroke someone’s ego to try and buy a goal. It's like Dom all over again but with even less goals. I think we need to get a striker who can score goals as a priority and then if there is anything in Barry, see if it comes out over time with less pressure. If it doesn't it will have be chalked down as another terrible signing and get rid.
