The West Ham Thread

I know I've heard it, because the game is about goals etc, but I can't tell you where or from whom.

It’s usually people/fans/pundits saying we “should” give the benefit of doubt to the attacker, which I agree with, but is not something that’s ever actually been used or taken into consideration by officials or the PGMOL.

 I mean, has that 5cm rule been used before or since? That seems like something they made up on the day to explain away an embarrassing error. I don’t think I’d be taking that as an official rule or anything personally.

It is the rule though, and reaffirming the point about the cartoon;

Should the images give an indication of the tolerance level? It would avoid a situation where the animation is not giving clear outcomes.

That’s the one and only time that “rule” has ever been implemented, that’s why it’s the only example that anyone ever brings up. It’s not a real thing.
Don't they get an awful lot of one time deal favourable decisions. poll, CL holders* mid season rule change, everyone else punished for their crimes abroad.

As for offside and the var implementation, a system to take the bad calls out of the game and implement fairness has done the exact opposite.

The referee on pitch is becoming redundant. This isn't football. I don't know how a new generation can identify with the modern game now.

They pick and choose when to implement rules to suit the outcome they want. The Leeds one looks offside to me from the real life still frame, but I totally get what Dan is trying to say about not being able to trust them as they have a history for making up nonsense rules on the spot when they need to cover their arses and justify a blatantly incorrect decision.

They also pick and choose which frame to use and I remember they picked a frame for this that made it look very close, when the real life frame showed he was well offside, by about 30cm, or a foot.

Below is an extract from that BBC report, you couldn't make it up

''Unlike in other competitions, the animation in the Premier League is not knitted to real-life footage. This means the chosen frame is not clear''

Which is exactly why I hate the animation! Why show it if it’s not real?!??

Well, if Wet Spam do go down, I will have no sympathy for them. Bounced a Manager out who won them a European trophy in the belief that they were capable of better things without him. Now look where they are and we are. Good luck (or should that be bad cess to them) in the Championship with their Olympic Stadium...

I wonder why they pulled a contract extension from a manager who:

A: Spent £500mil

B: Lost multiple games in the second have of the season, 3, 4 and 5 nil

C: Demanded full decision making on transfers

Answers on a postcard.

They'll still likely be in the Championship next season.

Most teams lose multiple games.

The reason a lot of teams are in merdestraße is because 'others' within the club (us included) make/made decisions on incoming transfers which do not tie in with the Manager's views on how he wants to structure the team.

Replies on the back of a postage stamp...

So what happens with the London stadium when they go down ?

I see in the local press down here Sadiq Khan saying every Londoner should hoping Spurs go down.

Not sure that will go down well in some parts of north London but it has got me curious about the ramifications for him to say that.

Yes. Apparently the tiny rent that they currently pay on the stadium reduces to an even smaller amount if they are relegated, so the London tax payer has to pay even more towards the upkeep, stewarding etc

Apparently it could cost them 2.5 million per year, due to deal Boris Johnson did regarding the stadium.
