The unpopular opinions thread

Hibbert is/was a textbook defender who on his day (most definitely in the past now) was unparalleled when it came to taking a striker out of the game over 90 mins (i.e. placing them in his back pocket, not imploding their shins with an old-fashioned tackle).

I think people loved to get on his back because of the 'local lad' thing which is similarly applicable to Osman... and is some deep-seated complex of crowd mentality which isn't really worth exploring.

Even more controversially, I believe the gormless look on his face combined with his fair-haired complexion makes him look like a classic, gormless stooge - which, when you think about it, isn't too dissimilar from people stereotyping heavy-weight black players as 'lazy'.

In all fairness, he does resemble some kind of medieval serf - and it wouldn't surprise me if the longevity of his stay with us was down to some kind of stipulation in his contract which entailed him painting Moyes' house every other week. Hence Martinez keeping him on.

I liked the new 2013/14 badge, and (as it looked more like Prince Rupert's tower than any other Everton have had) was shocked at the anger it caused among the support. (maybe the base of the tower needed tweaking a bit) Also think it could have had a hypnotising affect on opposing defenders. possibly changing it back and loosing this advantage cost Everton about 25 points this season, think on.........and SLEEP
