Yeah of course. It's lost something by going that way though. It would have been impossible to run any other way as you'd have a kind of blood sports style competition and invite only any other way.

Even still it was fascinating at the outset.

Edit - best fight??? Ken shamrock fighting thingy Gracie for ages was the first time I'd seen proper submission experts going at it.

The best was UFC 1 when i think it was Gerard gordeau (savate) broke his hand on the sumo's head then kicked his teeth clean out of his mouth.

I remember watching that fight, when Pettis threw that kick I was out of my chair in a 'HOLY SH*T' moment. The best single thing I've seen in MMA.

As for Overeem no chance he gets the belt, absolutely none. JDS and Cain would wreck him.

Don't normally watch this but I think i'l watch the fight sat night, on driving duty for a match on saturday won't be home til after midnight so a few beers and this could be on the cards.

At the minute he is. If he loses on Saturday the top p4p could be argued for Jones. The main event will likely be about 5am or something. I only ever Sky Plus them these days, gone are the days I'd stay up all night to watch a big fight. My kids make sure I'm up at the same time everyday regardless of what time I went to bed.

I'm picking Silva to win, just because I don't think you can ever bet against him. But there are loads of current and ex-fighters picking Weidman. Weidman hasn't fought in about 18 months though, he'll either win the fight and everyone will say he always had the talent or if he gets beat people will just say he was over-rated and his cv is thin.

He is a bad stylistic match-up for Silva though, big strong wrestler with submissions. People are saying if he does what Chael did in the first fight then he'll win cos he has a better top game and will avoid the submission. But that was years ago and Chael couldn't replicate that in the second fight anyway. You have to think that Silva is aware of it and will have something to counter.

Ii wasn't sure about Weidman but the hype special made me a believer. I reckon he has a shot to win. i still think Anderson will win (probably by decision) but I think it will be closer than I previously imagined

Well Anderson you had that coming, you disrespect opponents so much that in the end you will get caught, looks good when it works, look like an absolute tit when it doesn't.

That fight did nothing for me, if Anderson turns up, he takes that fight pretty easily, lets see if he does a rematch.

That was pretty mad to see, Silva doing the same thing he did to Damian Maia a few years ago. He's the best ever but deserved to be knocked out for acting like that, so disrespectful and cocky. A mate of mine said "MMA is dead to me now" after the fight.
