Not too long ago, the club were at war with fans media.

Interviewing players was off limits. Interviewing the manager was unthinkable.

Secrecy surrounded the club, nothing was open, no one was allowed to ask questions and questions weren't welcomed.

What a difference 12-18 months makes! We now have a Director of Communications in Alan Myers who is as skillful in dealing with the fans and media as Roberto Martinez is in his role as the manager. Myers, with his skills honed in 12 years working for Sky tv and bringing all that know-how and knowledge of how to present both himself and the club in such a fan friendly, professional, positive light. From that we have fans evenings that are entertaining, informative and enjoyable.

We are now at a point where the club allowed the MANAGER today to be interviewed by all the main Everton fans websites for nearly 90 minutes! Not just a snatched 10 minutes... not just half an hour.... but an hour and a half!

Wonderful, simply wonderful. We have got OUR club back.

It's too easy to suggest it's just because the manager changed - I think the appointment of Myers was massive. But there's no doubt that Martinez sees nothing as a threat, sees no need to be so defensive in attitude. By Martinez own words and actions, he wants to celebrate our past and talk it up, to make us and the players feel 10 feet tall.

This football club is on the up!

I've been thinking exactly this recently. The bring me sunshine video was great! Couldn't have imagined moyesies ugly grid singing that like!

I missed the afternoon tea thing

Alright mate, the tea party thing was a separate thing. That was like a 1 hour live stream from Everton tonight, 7 to 8pm, with Myers interviewing Martinez, then Darren Griffiths & Mark Rowan, then Alan Stubbs & David Unsworth.

The Martinez thing was a separate deal where he was interviewed this afternoon by reps from all the main EFC fans websites including this one.

It's just a general chat about Everton, it's not really random questions. I'll send you a PM.

to be fair it was also because people like myself kept banging on about creating a youtube channel for us to see what happens inside and start streaming all this.

I agree totally. Before everything at the club came across as snobby and secretive, as if off the pitch they wanted nothing from us except our money. Supporters felt ignored and unappreciated, like we weren't listened too.

Thank God Ian Ross and Paul Tyrell have gone, two absolute cretins who didn't give a mouse's fart about us or the club really. Alan Myers is a proper Evertonian who's living his dream by working for the club and getting access to the players and manager. He wants everyone else to feel like he feels, like we're involved and part of a happy family.

I'm just loving being an Everton supporter right now, and not just because of results of the pitch. The Everton of 12-18 ago months was bloody hard-work to get behind.
