The Tony Hibbert Appreciation Thread

Its no secret that I would run him over if I saw him at Sainsburys but ......yesterday he played ok . He actually didnt turn round and scuttle back when he recieved the ball in THEIR half which absolutely astounded me so much so that I half spat of boiling coffee onto my exsposed forearm .

He's getting a goal or two this year. Should have had one but the cross sailed over his head. I always thought his crosses were quality as well. Dont think he'll give up the RB position w/o a fight.

Itll be a walkover. Hibbert wont be an Everton player by this time next year.

Nailed on.

Has to be said though, bar the FA cup final, he played some great stuff last year.

Nearly scored yesterday too.
you know, I have always felt that. No one said said a bad thing about him until chelsea exploited him last year.

My only issue with hibbo is that he doesnt go forward. yesterday he did and he had solid results.

He played well, there's no doubt he needs replacing though, just like Leon Osman. He's a good squad player.

And I don't buy the 'it's Leon Osman's fault Tony Hibbert's [Poor language removed]' shouts. It's not Leon Osman's fault Tony Hibbert can't defend against any winger who cuts inside and doesn't go down the byline.

They limit each others games. Osman would be alot better if we had a fullback who got beyond him every game and gave him real support. Someone who's willing to take the ball and keep hold of it like Baines does for Pienaar. Or even bring it forward every once and a while.

It works both ways really.

The last few games that Tony a pplayed, he has done well I think, compared to what we are used to with his usual antics, he has upped his game, put in a few decent crosses yesterday and is getting into the box more often.

Tony for World Cup 2010 (y)

I can run 30km every game, that's double the average any player cover. I can jump and try to head the ball even though the ball lands 30 feet from me. I can do anything moyes ask me to, except play decent football. I'm willing to play for free too! Can I have a appreciation thread next season?

My mate does his "if only we could get a good right back we can get rid of Hibbert" nonsense almost every game we play. I wish some people would watch the game.

Hibbert, along with Neville are our two most improved players.

He was doing what we now appreciate for most of last season. Instead of his lead boots, his feet can deliver a good sweet ball into the danger area, he can overlap and we already know about his defensive qualities.

The cup final simply displayed for the world his obvious weaknesses which are lack of pace and positional sense. But if you think that some new boy is simply gonna walk in and take the shirt off Tony, I think that your gonna get a big surprise.

I also think Osman is played out of position. He's a much better central midfielder, and when we have the personnel and he plays in that position, he'll get his own appreciation thread.

Osman and creative midfielder dont go together . You must be the only person who comes on that tries to justify his place in a top six team . He is too light weight for this level of football . He has the touch of a rapist . His body language yesterday was that of a player who knows who isnt good enough and is past caring . I am sick to death of people justifing Osmans inclusion .

Stop it and stop it now . Osman must go . Wherever that is I for one dont care but will the apologists and outwright nutters please shut up
