The Lancashire Telegraph reports it's off already because of the stadium issue. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9361246.Rovers_set_for_fresh_takeover_attempt/

Rovers are not the only Premier League club they are looking at, although they are understood to have already been put off moving for Everton due to the cost involved in building a new stadium.

Does anyone really think Ewood Park would be a venue fit to host one of the richest clubs in the world? I smell bull**** personally. Whether Blackburn our Everton, there is a desperate need for a ground to be worthy of staging such a new project.

To be absolutely honest, I believe even Mike Walker would've made Rangers champions in those days. The SPL was a one horse race at that time

mike walker got norwich to 3rd in the prem! and beat bayern munich! before his everton appointment!

the point i was making was johnson atleast showed some ambition with his manager appointments! were kenwright got lucky with smiths moyes recommendation!

so your comparison on johnson and bills manager choice is way off imho!!

I dont understand why anyone would buy us or Blackburn,Newcastle or Spurs would surly be a better purchase

Fair enough Fozzy, that's your opinion. Still, my opinion is that we would be screwed if Kenwright hadn't taken over from Johnson at the time. That's all I'm trying to say.

We are of course taking this report at face value, so I'll respond in that manner.

I think that a lot of you are starting from the wrong end of the discussion. The issue isn't whether the Board will lower their price for the club, its the total package, which includes the issues related to the stadia. Its always been my view that the price is a part of the equation and that the bigger stumbling block is the stadia.

Read into the cryptic remarks from Keith Harris on sky when talking about bidders. Its a big issue, and because a corporation is a billionaire doesn't mean that they would lightly splash out £250m on a stadia as if it was loose change.

On the issue of price I've always said that £120m would be my top price for Everton.

Johnson spent his own money on the Club, he re-built the Park End and he sold for peanuts.

Johnson was 20 times the Chairman super blue Bill is.

On the whole issue of the takeover by a mega rich sugar daddy. I'm a bit schizo.
Part of me is like ''please, please, yes, I want us to buy Hazard, Llorente, Erikson and Nugent.
Another part of me is sort of '' No, no, we'll lose our soul''

The other part of me is kind of ''Cheese on toast laddie''

As I said, I'm not denying he made mistakes. The King Dock's fiasco certainly being the biggest one. Anyone who thinks he did screw up on purpose should have his head examined though.

I need my head examined then.

He had effective control of the club when the deal of the century appeared. Instead of securing either investment or external finance to fund this, he did nothing and instead chose to lie about money being ringfenced.

When Gregg offered alternative financing he ran him out of the club.

Just wish Johnson had still been in charge at the time.

walter smith who came from Scottish champions rangers and david moyes who couldnt get preston promoted!!

i dont think it was johnsons fault that walter smith fooked it all up!

and i also dont think it was kenwrights good judgement to get moyes in!

i know i was more excited about the smith appiotment at the time!!

was more ****ting my self when moyes came in to be honest!

All that is totally irrelevant. Smith may not have been to blame for our woes but Moyes is 100% the reason for our revival.

Stop bickering you lot!!

Fact is we are where we are. Personally I like to forget about Walter Smith etc...so let's just focus on what may be about to happen hey, and how awesome it may/may not be?!

I'm not bickering. I'm actually enjoying the discussions in here, especially with davek. It's just that my opinion seems to differ from a lot of other members on here. However, that's why it's an discussion forum, isn't it?

That and the fact I'm closing in on my 10.000th post.

really wish all this shet would be over, either the board announce a takeover, dont care who as long as they have money. or the board announce there is NO takeover,

Dont care which any more just sick of not knowing.

And any one who thinks Johnson was a good chairman needs to take some serious pills, hes the reason we started so many loans
