I can't see us spending more than 10 million. Also, even if we managed to somehow sign Lukaku, then there'll be no money to strengthen the squad, as effectively, we'll have not actually brought anyone in. I think Barry will sign up and Deulofeu will come for another year. But beyond that, if we get Lukaku, or any other proven striker, we'll have no money for midfield or centre back which will need strengthening.

I'd like to think we've been given a hint that we might be able to try for Lukaku in the summer and that's what Roberto wants.

Even that'd need more outs though, probably.

People are kidding themselves if they think the phrase 'War Chest' can even realistically work in a sentence that includes 'Everton'.

We'll spend under £5m net.

Sign Barry on a free, and get another year of Deulofeu and Lukaku on loan and I wouldnt be that arsed if we only spent a few beans on a couple of other players.

No doubt come the summer with it being a world cup year it will be hard to do deals and prices will go through the roof so it wont be a buyers market.

We will save our war chest for the January sales.

Rinse and repeat.
exactly. because players coming off a world cup performance are ALWAYS the cheapest of options. 'this summer wasnt the best time to buy, i'll wait to strengthen in the January window'.

Does anyone honestly believe these people any more. The McCarthy money was already there??? As if.

I don't think the club made the statement that the money was already there to appease us fans.. I think it was to drive the Fellaini price up, making out to United that we didn't need to sell.

If we are going to do business the we need to get it done early as every team will be sniffing around when the world cups on . Just hope we can replace our vital players

Can't take "war chest" seriously.

Wor Chest.

The accounts released this week reported a profit on player sales for last season of over £15 million. On this basis we all thought we would spend last summer. But no, last summer we had another negative nett spend. We all thought we would spend this January. We have had a negative nett spend. There is a trend here. I would love to think we will push the boat out this summer, but I just don't see it happening. Another negative nett spend summer looms.
