The striker debacle

As depressing as it sounds, due to it being this late in the window we are not going to be able to attract a top striker or our main target (if we had one) due to the other club having no time to find a suitable replacement.
Alternatively we will get either a lesser striker in on loan or pay over the odds for someone in sheer desperation.
The most important position on the pitch and we are 2 days away from the window closing with still no striker in. If we don't get a striker in, once again 7th is the best we can hope for.

Yes Slimani would do me i think there is a good striker in there if you play to his strengths.

I might have thought differently a few weeks ago, but as things stand it looks the most sensible option.

He's a decent player who did very well in their European games, and with Vardy, Okazaki, Iheancho and possibly Musa ahead in the pecking order, they'll hopefully be less inclined to risk missing out on a reasonable fee by asking for something daft.

It's not really a debacle until Thursday at 11pm, if we haven't got a striker by then really.

I mean, if your boss asked you to get something done by Thursday at 11pm and you were working on it and were going to get it done and your workmates were telling your boss that you efforts were a complete debacle then you wouldn't feel very good about it now would you?

And if we do get a striker by Thursday 11pm then this whole thread would have been pointless because there is already a Summer 2017 transfer thread and there would be no debacle.

I'm not usually one to moan about transfer windows, but I am perplexed at this situation. We are severely limited going forward and are in desperate need of a senior striker. It appears we've got ourselves in to a bit of a pickle.

I lived through a summer of us desperately needing a striker and signing Magaye Gueye, then the following January we went and sold pretty much every striker at the club.

I remain unfreaked here.
