The Squad?????

Back up defender, perhaps. Jagielka, Yobo and Heitinga can all do a good job there. Hopefully one of the younger lads will come through.

Make or break for Anichebe and Vaughan next year, assuming they'd still be here. Time for them to make their mark or get shipped out - no room for "oh but they've got potential" anymore.

Am i the only one who thinks Jonny should maybe be kept in the centre as a defensive midfeilder, has to be said his long rangeing balls and distribution can do mucho damage in there and he has the attributes to grow into that position defensively.

It depends on how we want to set up. How can we fit Arteta, Fellaini and Heitinga into central midfield?

I agree he has some excellent defensive-midfield attributes. But can we fit everyone in?

We need backup for Arteta. We're awful without him and it's a position we have no natural replacement. Right midfield is a priority as well.
Striker is a bonus. I'm not worried about lack of funds, we have a few fringe players for sale to raise fund.

With Jan Mucha joining in the summer and possible adding that Joao Alves guy and Jermaine Beckford to our strikeforce, I think we're in great shape for this summer transfer market. Hopefully Seamus Coleman will play a bigger role in our gameplan next season, so the right back position is filled for years to come. Would like to see a back up left back added to our squad. Maybe that Rindaroy guy on a freebie.

One name I saw mentioned on Kipper last week, was that of Bryan Ruiz of FC Twente for a fee of 8million. Think he would be an excellent signing for us. Left/right winger/striker who's technically very gifted, pacey and a good finisher.

Another one would be Graham Dorrans. Saw him on the Football League show 9on Saturday and he impressed me big time. Don't know how realistic this signing would be, with the Baggies almost certain to be promoted to the PL.

Also Landon Donovan on a permanent contract would be very warmly welcomed by me, as would Charles N'Zogbia.

If we look where we are weakest, it's our injuries and lack of pace, and the age of some of our players.

If Pienaar stays, I'd say 1 or 2 strikers, a few wingers, and defensive cover across the back 4 would be nice.

The thing about Arteta is he does the simple things well, which makes it all the more alarming at how clueless we look without him at times.

Smart movement, give and go, short, simple passes. Simple as that. And yet when he isn't on the field, we just don't look the same team. Worrying.

a winger, a striker, and maybe another defender

I wouldn't say Everton has no replacement for Arteta, in the run up to when he finally came back both Pienaar and Osman were looking good in the middle partnered with Fellaini and the team was playing well.

You just have mate!

Heitinga as the anchor and Fellaini and Arteta in front of with more of a lisence.

Think Heitinga would have a problem with being used in a permanent DM role. His preferred position is definately CB. Believe he more or less got David Moyes word on that when he joined us in the summer.

I would say our squad is very big when everyone is fit. The only positions I think we could use some help would be a backup LB and RW (Donovan or Nzogbia). We've got a lot of depth at RB and CB aswell as CM althoug another playmaker like Defour, Moutinho, Banega or Afellay would be very welcome.

On the wings we only have Bily, Pienaar, Vic and Gosling but Vic's future is as a striker and Gosling would benefit from a loan spell.

And up front an in-form Saha and Yakubu are enough with Vic as a backup and Vaughan going out on loan again, so another striker would be welcome although not needed.

So like a said Donovan or Nzogbia and a backup LB would be enough for me, but I wouldn't be against bringing more quality players.

I would prefer to see Hetty partnering Jags instead of Distin and really paying attention to RB. We have 2 at the moment, Neville and Hibbert perhaps we could get another season from them but for me they are a weakness. Should have been bedding Coleman down in that position.

As for midfield seem to be forgetting Rodwell and Gosling, if Rodwell is said to be that good about time he was playing permanantly.

A lot depends on keeping Peanuts and sorting Bily, oh and waking Cahill up.

We have a good core of players and I do not think we need tons more. Mucha is coming and we do not know yet about Beckford, will he be good enough up front on his own??

For me I think our pressing need is a striker in the mould of Torres, some one youngish, pace, skill, who can hold off defenders and can score!!!

Think that if Coleman gets a bigger part to play next season, that RB is covered. CB pairing of Jags and Heitinga, with Distin and Yobo (am I the only one who hasn't given up on him yet?) as defensive cover. Don't forget we have Duffy/Mustafi waiting in the wings. Think LB has to be looked at, as we don't have adequate cover for Baines as Garbutt is still too young. So with bringing in cover for Baines, I think defence is pretty well sorted.

One but preferably two of N'Zogbia, Donovan or Ruiz, will give us more than enough cover for the wings and Graham Dorrans could become the long term successor to our Spanish Magician.

Leaves only the strikers department to be sorted out. Have a feeling that Moyes doesn't quite rate Vaughan that highly and I have the same with Anichebe. Rumours about Beckford and Joao Silva, would give us more options there. Also, I thoroughly expect Baxter to be playing a bigger part next season.

Maybe mate but nothing eases the pain like winning and people praiseing your performences (*Que Daivd Moyes has turned me into a more compleate player article). He gives us good balance in midfeild at the mo and maybe indeed even into the future in midfeild. Im not overly convinced of him at centre half to be honest and think his gifts may be more effective a little further up the park.

Any how for 55k week we will play where hes told - somoeone asked where the big bang came from yesterday - would have to be a blow out between Moyes and the Heit.

Has he won you around mate?

agree with last poster. We need cover for baines, otherwise its shunting neville out there.

Love to see us bid for Donovan. Otherwise someone with pace on the right hand side, that could also play as a striker in a pinch.

we'll probs let senderos leave, so somebody to cover that back up position.

Also another creative player - without arteta, pienaar or osman, it seems to disappear.

was anyone else gutted when Kranjaer went over to Spurs for 2.5 million? What a friggin steal.

For a player of his calibre they gave him away.

So four players, maybe two loans (back up defenders), and two purchases; one a shrewd cheap one and the other a splurge on Donovan.

Provided Moyes get about £12 - 14 million we should be ok. Of course we all know he'll be lucky to get £5 million.

Final thing to think about is some players are going to need replacing in the next few years. Neville, and maybe Cahill.
